Tell Your Senators:
America Gives More Act Is A Priority

With demand for services continuously on the rise, and not enough donations to meet the need, the America Gives More Act is essential to safeguarding the work of nonprofits. The bill, which passed in the House of Representatives last month, brings together five tax provisions to incentivize philanthropic giving and increase the resources available to nonprofit organizations throughout Massachusetts. It is important that Congress enact the legislation before adjourning for the November elections.

What Is The America Gives More Act (H.R. 4719)?

  • Permanently extends three expired charitable giving incentives: the IRA charitable rollover, food inventory donations, and land conservation easements.
  • Gives taxpayers until April 15 to make charitable contributions eligible for the charitable deduction.
  • Changes the private foundation excise tax to one percent.
Call To Action:

Call or write your Senators today and ask them to urge Majority Leader Harry Reid and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell to bring the America Gives More Act (H.R. 4719) to the Senate floor for a vote in September once the Senate returns from recess.  Associated Grantmakers and National Council of Nonprofits both have terrific resources and talking points to help you reach out to your Senators.
