Hello Adventurous Gunners,
We finally got this one in the books after a snow delay last week. We had a great turnout of 27 shooters, but less than 20 took advantage of the free Happy Hour at Witt's End. Bryson Dion joined us for the first time. Welcome Bryson. This was a 30-round match that went quickly. We started shooting at 5:24 and the last shooter finished at 7:34. The last reveler left Witt's at 9:00. As always, the set-up, pasting, brass sweeping and tear-down helpers kept things running smoothly.
Safety
Thanks to all for observing safety protocols. There were no incidents.
Observations
Last night's course of fire was supposed to be about rescuing a baby from 5 intruders. But it turned out that the baby was in far more danger than the bad guys. With one exception, it was a lesson in how NOT to carry a baby to safety. Common techniques included under one arm, like a newspaper, clutched to the side or chest like a stack of books, and one-handed grasping various limbs. Three stood out as unique:
The TLC- Only Susan Spriggs demonstrated humane treatment. She caressed the infant gently to her shoulder while supporting the back and neck with her hand and forearm.
The Grisly Mama- While she did not use her teeth, Cari Kalapis carried it by one hand, by one foot, and by the stuff of the neck.
The Duck Dynast- Father-and-son team Brian McFeeters and Joe South manhandled the poor kid by one foot, dragging it on the floor at times and flinging it wildly around while changing magazines.
