The Biden Administration is pushing Congress to focus on two priority objectives and six recommendations to address the reliability of US pharmaceutical supply chains.
As Congress continues debating the best approach to address prescription drug reform, it is more critical than ever that patient voices are heard. Calls to repeal the non-interference (NI) provision in Medicare Part D are increasing, and it is vital that policymakers understand the negative impact this policy can have on the patients that you represent. Repealing NI would likely result in the implementation of a restrictive formulary for Medicare beneficiaries, ultimately limiting their access to the medications they need to treat chronic and acute conditions. This policy has the ability to undermine the comprehensive coverage that seniors and individuals with disabilities rely upon to maintain their health and could put effective health treatments at risk.  Please sign on with the Chronic Care Policy Alliance and the 30 organizations that have already called upon Congress to protect prescription drug coverage in Medicare by opposing the repeal of NI. Please Sign On if you would like your organization added to the list of signers. Thank you very much for your leadership and advocacy on behalf of your patients.
As of Jan. 1, 2021, there are new Evaluation and Management (E/M) Services Guidelines for outpatient and ambulatory services that encompass specific areas of risk defined in the social determinants of health (SDOH). Walk through a coding example scenario that explains how properly capturing SDOH information serves patients and impacts reimbursement.
A Biden administration plan to lower prescription-drug prices offers the first detailed road map of administrative actions the White House would support in addition to legislation aimed at driving down costs. The plan, which was released last week, backs legislation from congressional Democrats, including a push to empower the federal government to negotiate for drug prices in Medicare and pass those lower costs along to the private sector.
