We have heard from some practices that they are losing money from one specific plan through ESI/Prime, where DIR fees are being charged. If this is happening to your practice, please email moasc@moasc.org so that we can help you. 
The company that was awarded the state’s Medi-Cal prescription drug contract was taken over by insurer Centene, which has been accused of overbilling nine other state Medicaid programs.

Members, and staff, of the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) considered three different options for regulating the price of Part B drugs, which are administered by physicians in their offices. 1) For new "first-in-class" drug, 2) For drugs that already have therapeutic alternatives, and 3) To address concerns about the ASP-plus-6% reimbursement formula.
CMS proposes indefinite delay of radiation oncology payment model after the federal agency proposed a new rule on April 6.

It would be illegal to compel clinicians to write "dispense as written" on a prescription when a biosimilar or a generic is available per the Generic Substitution Non-Interference Act, introduced in the House and Senate last Thursday.
The OIG recommended that CMS should promote biosimilars to reduce Part D spending, but utilization would have to increase for significant savings to be realized.
Physicians will soon have new guidelines on how and when to prescribe opioids for pain.

Application deadline is this Thursday, April 14, for ANCO’s Travel Awards to Fellows and Young Clinicians to support attendance at the ASCO Annual Meeting, ASH Annual Meeting, or other national oncology meeting in 2022 are now being accepted.

ASCO is currently accepting applications for its project to improve rates of recommended vaccinations for adults with cancer. The project is part of a five-year cooperative agreement  between the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Council of Medical Specialty Societies (CMSS). ASCO will select seven participants for the project in the Spring of 2022. Eligible participants include healthcare systems, hospitals, and private practices that managed at least 10,000 active hematology and oncology patients last year, or that meet one or more high-priority criteria in treatment of underserved populations. Interested health systems must apply by April 29, 2022. Applications must include a letter of support from a senior officer of the health system.
