Message From Our Executive Director, Greg Stuart | |
Happy New Year! As the Executive Director of the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization, I can proudly say this has been a year full of progress. We have secured increased transportation funding via appropriations requests; the transformative Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is allowing us to fund a number of important projects throughout the Broward County community. One of our most significant achievements has been the results of our complete streets initiative, which have contributed to a net decrease in fatalities in Broward County over the past five years. This is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team and our member governments. As the year comes to a close, the BMPO is looking forward to the opportunities and projects the coming year presents. Construction will begin on the final segment of the Sawgrass Connector, which will greatly improve transportation in the county. Also in the works is a joint educational campaign focused on rail safety in our communities. In addition, new rail safety equipment along the Florida East Coast Railway is set to be installed to further secure the busy rail corridor. We are eager to get started, and we look forward to sharing our progress with the community!

Thank You to Our Platinum
Safe Streets Summit Sponsor
| |
We are so excited to welcome our Platinum Sponsor, EXP, to the 2023 Safe Streets Summit! Their commitment to understanding, innovating, partnering, and delivering engineering, architecture, design, and consulting services to the world's built and natural environments make them an invaluable partner in creating safe streets. The Safe Streets Summit is South Florida’s premier complete streets event focused on promoting and creating healthier, safer, and more vibrant communities by encouraging and building the necessary skills to implement Complete Streets throughout the South Florida region. The Broward MPO created this event in 2014 to bring policymakers, technical staff, and interested parties to the table and start a conversation on taking completed street projects from planning through implementation. The Summit expanded in 2017 to include the MPO's counterparts, the Miami-Dade Transportation Planning Organization (TPO) and the Palm Beach Transportation Planning Agency (TPA), to emphasize the importance of partnerships in creating a safe and accessible transportation system for all users region-wide.
