March is Florida Bike Month! The health benefits of regular cycling include increased cardiovascular fitness, increased muscle strength and flexibility, improved joint mobility, and decreased stress levels. Bike month is not only about the health benefits of cycling but also recognizing bicycling as an alternative mode of transportation. The Broward MPO has invested millions of dollars to build out a safe, connected bike network for all residents, from the weekend cycling groups out for exercise and as a social activity to the thousands of children who ride their bikes to school every day. If you don’t take advantage of our beautiful March weather and participate in Bike Month, please be considerate of those who are. As drivers, we are responsible for keeping everyone on the roads safe and ensuring everyone gets to their final destination.

MPO Team Reaches Hundreds at Weekend Outreach Events with MODS and Tri-Rail

We had a wonderful weekend out and about in Broward County educating the public about our 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan! Thank you to our partners Visit Lauderdale, the Museum of Discovery and Science, and Tri-Rail for the opportunity to participate in the Visit Lauderdale Science Under the Sun Festival at the Museum of Discovery and Science and Tri-Rail Family Fun Day on Saturday! City of Wilton Manors Asks Residents and Business Owners to Participate in Transportation Master Plan

Broward MPO City Services Staff are providing technical assistance to the City of Wilton Manors in the preparation of its citywide Transportation Master Plan. The plan is intended to identify improvements for multimodal transportation throughout Wilton Manors. There will be numerous opportunities for public input during the planning phase.  Wilton Manors residents, visitors, and business owners are invited to complete a brief survey about their concerns and priorities. Community members can also sign up for updates on the Plan, community meetings, and additional opportunities for public input. The survey is available HERE.

The Route to 2050 survey plays a vital part in the MPO’s public outreach efforts to update the Metropolitan Transportation Plan, or MTP. Public engagement is critical to understanding your needs and priorities for transportation. The survey results will be used to develop a vision, set policy goals, and prioritize projects for funding. By completing the survey, you can be part of a drawing to win a $250 Visa gift card. Women in Aviation Week Spotlight:

Jacqueline Cochran*

The late Jacqueline Cochran was an esteemed pioneer in aviation, renowned for her aptitude as a racing pilot. She accomplished numerous aviation feats, being the first woman to surpass the sound barrier.

Cochran headed the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) during World War II, overseeing an organization of over 1,000 women who transferred planes from factories to various urban centers.

Join Us at the Pembroke Pines Bike Ride and Rodeo

on March 11 at Spring Valley Park

Ready, set, ride at the Pembroke Pines Family Bike Ride/Bike Rodeo on Saturday, March 11, 2023 from 10 a.m. to noon at Spring Valley Park, located at 1700 NW 160 Ave. There will be a bike rodeo, food trucks, music with a DJ and giveaways. All children must have bike helmets to participate. For more information, please call (954) 392-2130.
