MOBILITY MONDAY

Message From Our Executive Director, Greg Stuart

Welcome to this week's edition of Mobility Monday! As we head into the holiday season of thanks, I reflect on how grateful I am for my team at the Broward MPO. I am grateful for my team's reputation as a national leader in transportation planning. In the past month, your MPO has played key roles in two major transportation conferences. At the Association of Metropolitan Planning Organization's (AMPO) Annual Conference in Minneapolis, nine staff members presented innovative, forward-thinking ideas to an audience of over 400 planners from around the nation. And at the Rail-Volution conference in Miami, our mobility team led multiple mobile workshops, showcasing our award-winning Complete Streets projects around the Southeast Florida region. I'm also grateful for our regional partners at the Miami-Dade TPO and the Palm Beach TPA. Working together, we will continue to advocate for mobility projects that improve the quality of life for residents in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties. We are three counties, but we are one traveling public. Lastly, I'm grateful for the public that we serve. With your support, we look forward to continued engagement with communities across Broward County and the region as we work to develop transportation projects that will make commuting easier and more efficient. With initiatives like our 2023 Public Participation Plan (PPP), and our upcoming 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP), we will identify projects that improve the commutes of everyone who lives, works, and plays in Broward County. Thank you for your support and we hope you have a happy Thanksgiving this week!

Broward MPO Releases Annual Listing

of Obligated Projects With Approved Funding

Do you know about the "obligated projects" that are part of Transportation Improvement Program (TIP)? What's an obligated project, you ask? It's one where the federal government has approved the project and authorized funds to be released so that it can be built. Obligated projects of all types get approved for federal funding each fiscal year including transit, bicycle, pedestrian, greenways, new roadways, road widening, reconstruction, interchange improvements, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), landscaping, transportation enhancements, and safety-related projects. Check out our FFY 2022 Annual Listings of Obligated Projects (ALOP) for a full report and highlights of the projects that were approved in your neighborhood. Click HERE to learn more.

Broward MPO Partners With City of Wilton Manors on the First & Last Mile Connection Plan

The Broward MPO teamed up with the City of Wilton Manors to engage the community last Saturday at the Equality Garden Club Plant Fair about the First & Last Mile Connection Plan (FLMP). Broward MPO staff collected input from the public about their experience with existing multimodal transportation facilities within the FLMP's study area. The project team for the FLMP will be back in action on Saturday, December 3, at Holiday Village in Oakland Park from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. We value your feedback, so be sure to stop by the Broward MPO table to connect with us.
