MOBILITY MONDAY

Message From Our Executive Director, Greg Stuart

Welcome to another edition of Mobility Monday! This week we’re taking a look at transportation funding. Whether it’s identifying funding for specific projects or raising awareness of funding available for projects that would serve a specific segment of our community, like the elderly and persons with disabilities, we are always looking for opportunities to bring more investment to Broward County. First, I appeared on the “Talking Headways” podcast a few weeks ago to discuss how transportation funding ties into sea-level rise and the effects of the pandemic. We also spotlight a comprehensive inventory of grant funding sources from the National Aging and Disability Center. We will continue to do whatever we can as an agency to find and fund ways to improve your commute. We’re also very excited to shine a light on leaders in the transportation industry at our State of the Region Awards on February 2, 2023. Read on for more information on how you can be a part of this signature event. I hope to see you there!

BROWARD MPO IN ACTION

Broward MPO Executive Director Greg Stuart Featured on "Talking Headways" Podcast

On September 29, our Executive Director Greg Stuart was featured on the "Talking Headways" podcast where he discussed funding transportation projects in South Florida. Greg and host Jeff Wood talked about Broward County, its connections to the rest of South Florida, the historic MAPS transportation plan, sea-level rise, and the effects of the pandemic. "Talking Headways" is a production of Streetsblog USA, a daily news site founded in 2006 that covers the movement to end car dependence in the United States, and to facilitate a just transition to a transportation system where everyone has meaningful access to mobility alternatives.
