MOBILITY MONDAY

Message From Executive Director, Greg Stuart

Happy Monday! I hope you’re having a great start to your week! We are thrilled to share that the Broward MPO and its partners have been awarded a technical assistance grant through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (USDOT) Thriving Communities Program! This program has chosen us out of 64 communities from 42 states to receive planning, technical assistance, and capacity building support that will make it possible for our disadvantaged and under-resourced communities to increase mobility, reduce pollution, and offer affordable transportation. It would not have been possible without the support of our partners, the Minority Builders Coalition, and the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance. This incredible support shows our region's dedication to improving the lives of our two million neighbors. This award grants us technical assistance, not direct funding. The Broward MPO will be paired with a “Capacity Builder” organization and engage with a cohort of communities that share similar goals and challenges. There is much work to be done in the years to come, and together, by collaborating, we will continue to move people and goods, reinforce communities, and generate jobs.

BROWARD MPO IN ACTION

Broward MPO Successfully Completes Federal Certification Process 👍

Every four years our partners at the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) undertake an evaluation of our agency. On Tuesday, April 11, the FHWA and FTA teams conducted its Transportation Management Area Certification Review site visit, which we are pleased to say went very well. A full report of the findings will be made available later this year. Public feedback is an essential part of this review. Both the Federal team and the MPO encourage you to share your thoughts on the transportation planning process. It is your opportunity to provide input on your experience working with the Broward MPO and to highlight successes, challenges and improvements that could be made. Comments from the public can be submitted until May 12, 2023. There are several ways to submit your comments: via e-mail at info@browardmpo.org, through the FHWA FL Division Website or by e-mail at carlos.a.gonzalez@dot.gov or brittany.lavender@dot.gov. For more information about the federal certification process, please visit our website.
