| | If you've ever lived in or visited Broward County, you know how important transportation is. Getting around Broward County can be a hassle. That's why we're excited to share that the Broward MPO just completed its Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) grant project! This project aimed to construct more pedestrian and bike-friendly facilities throughout the county, creating vital links between different communities and making it easier and safer to travel on foot or by bike. The project was partly funded by a TIGER grant from the U.S. DOT, which recognizes the importance of investing in transportation infrastructure to create jobs and spur economic growth. Over the past few years, the Broward MPO has been working hard to design and construct these facilities. They include bike lanes, sidewalks, crosswalks, and improved transit options like bus rapid transit. All these elements come together to create a transportation network that is safer, more convenient, and more environmentally friendly than what Broward residents and visitors had before.
Today, the Broward MPO celebrated this achievement with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in the City of Pompano. The event featured remarks from local officials, community members, and transportation experts and offered an excellent opportunity to see the new facilities up close and personally. As Broward continues to grow and change, it's clear that investing in transportation infrastructure is essential to our region's success. We're thrilled that the Broward MPO has completed this TIGER grant project, and we look forward to seeing how these new facilities will benefit our communities. Congratulations to everyone who made this project a reality!
