I had the pleasure of being interviewed by Invest Magazine on the future of Broward County's transportation system and the incredible Route to 2050 project! As the executive director of Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), it's been a privilege to be at the forefront of shaping our county's future. During the interview, we dive deep into the key milestones we’ve achieved so far, and let me tell you, they are truly game changers! From creating efficient transit networks to implementing sustainable mobility solutions, our strategic pillars for Route to 2050 are reshaping how we move and connect with our beautiful community. Of course, no journey is without its challenges, and transportation hurdles are no exception. Broward County is facing them head-on by investing in cutting-edge technologies and infrastructure, all while prioritizing the needs and safety of our residents. The MPO plays a crucial role in identifying and funding Broward's transportation goals. Rest assured, we are committed to securing necessary funding through public-private partnerships and advocating for government support to bring our visionary plans to life. As for my outlook for the MPO and Broward County, it's incredibly optimistic! With each passing day, we are witnessing transformative changes in our transportation landscape. Together, we are building a sustainable, accessible, and innovative county that sets the bar high for others to follow. Broward MPO Presents Resiliency Framework at Transportation Research Board Annual Meeting

Exciting news! Earlier this month, our very own Broward MPO's Resiliency Coordinator, Levi Stewart-Figueroa, stole the show at the National Academies Transportation Research Board's 14th Annual Transportation Asset Management Conference in beautiful Boston! Levi showcased the groundbreaking MPO's Resiliency Framework, a comprehensive and forward-thinking approach in tackling the daunting impacts of climate change on our precious transportation infrastructure. We couldn't be prouder of the framework's success so far! As a prototype application, the framework is currently in action on an eastern segment of Hollywood Boulevard. It's all about paving the way for a more resilient and sustainable future!  Stay tuned, as additional corridors are already scheduled for study in the coming years. Join Us for a Safe Streets & Roads For All (SS4A) Solicitation Webinar

The Broward MPO and Broward County were awarded a $5 million Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Action Plan grant on January 31, 2023. As a result, the MPO will be advertising a consultant services solicitation to develop a Broward Regional Comprehensive Safety Action Plan. On July 27, the MPO will host a webinar for interested firms where the scope of services will be discussed. Click here to register for this webinar.

Celebrate Shark Week at the

Museum of Discovery and Science

Are you ready to sink your teeth into some shark science? If you're a fan of Shark Week, happening from July 23 to July 29, then you won't want to miss the MODS "Shark Cart" exhibit at the Museum of Discovery and Science in Fort Lauderdale. Sponsored by the Save Our Seas Foundation, the Shark Cart is the perfect opportunity to learn more about these awesome predators and how we can help protect them from extinction. From touching shark teeth to playing with models of these magnificent creatures, there's no shortage of hands-on activities to keep you engaged and learning. Located on the first floor of the museum's Florida Ecoscapes exhibit, the Shark Cart is staffed with knowledgeable educators ready and willing to answer any of your questions about sharks.
