MOBILITY MONDAY

Message From Executive Director, Greg Stuart

In Broward County, we are witnessing the firsthand effects of climate change. The torrential rain that occurred on April 12, 2023, caused severe devastation, with some areas receiving more than 20" of rain within 12 hours. To better equip ourselves for future flooding and rising sea levels, the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is prioritizing adaptation and mitigation strategies in our planning efforts, including the 2050 MTP (Long Range Plan). As part of this effort, we have launched a Transportation Resiliency Framework study along Hollywood Boulevard that will take a holistic approach to planning, design, and construction. This framework is currently in the pilot adaptation phase and involves identifying vulnerabilities to the corridor and developing protective measures to enhance the resilience of our vital transportation infrastructure.
