CHOOSE LIFE
The words, “choose life,” have been used by pro-life groups standing against abortion. This is a great saying and true, but I suggest that God has another use for those two words.
Many times in life we come to a roadblock. We just aren’t sure if we are to go forward, or backwards. We are what many would call, “stuck in a rut.” When you are at that place, it is easy to give up and quit. You stop doing the things that you once loved, and literally stop living. You are just existing.
God wants more for you than “just existing.” In John 10:10 it says, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”
The word life in the Greek means “breath” or to put it plainly, to live. The word abundantly means beyond measure, excessive, preeminence, above, advantage.
God wants you to “live” above your circumstances, above and beyond any measure you have ever lived. He wants excess in your life. Excess love, excess joy, excess physical health, and excess in every area that you have a need. He wants your life to have preeminence over any circumstances that may come.
The choice is ours. We can choose to live that kind of life, or give up and stop living, even though we are physically alive. Yes, there is a fight of faith to do this, but God never said there would not be a fight. We know we win, according to God’s promises, [1 John 5:4] but we are walking out that victory daily as we forge ahead and choose life over the circumstances that happen.
I choose life in spite of any circumstances that may come my way. How about you? Choose life.
