HOW TO BE AN OVERCOMER
____________________
As we read the scriptures, we see many Old and New Testament saints that “endured” much hardship. In Hebrews chapter 11 are some of the things they endured. Among those things are reproach, fear, sinful lifestyle, the sword, lions’ dens, battles, fire, mockings, scourgings, imprisonment and many more challenges. In spite of these things horrific challenges, these saints of old did not quit. They knew when they were called by God that it might cost them their lives, but they had no fear of death.
In Revelation chapter 12 we learn about the adversary that brought about all these things. He is relentless. In Revelation 12:11 it says, “And they [the saints] overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.”
Three things caused these saints to win. First, they overcame by the blood of Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, applied to their sin. Second, they overcome by sharing their testimony with others and leading them also to Jesus Christ. By doing this they were advancing the kingdom of God. Thirdly, they had no fear of death because they knew if they died where they were going!
When we realize these things, we cannot be defeated by our adversary the devil. We are defeated only when we quit! The same three things that worked for the saints of old work for us also.
Do not let the devil mess with your mind. Use your authority that God has given you by resisting the devil and he will flee. Share your testimony as often as you can and know that death is not the end of life. It is the beginning of an eternity with Jesus Christ!
