THE PRAYER OF FAITH
Some time ago I was living in South Alabama. My husband and I were getting ready to move to Florida. A friend owned a thrift shop, and from time to time I bought things from him and sold things to him also. I had a few things to get rid of and he stopped by my home to purchase them and pick them up.
He told me that he had not been feeling well, and I asked him if I could pray for him. He said yes, and I prayed for him. Immediately upon finishing the prayer he said, “I hope that did some good.”
I replied, “It did not do any good.”
He was shocked when I said that. I went on to say that if you pray then just hope it does some good it will not change anything because there is no faith in the prayer. One must believe that God’s promises are theirs and receive the promises by faith.
I witnessed to him about needing salvation and he received the Lord. I then said, “Now I will pray again, if you believe for your healing.”
He said, “Yes, I believe I will be healed.”
I prayed for him and he was instantly healed.
You see, Hebrews 11:6 says, “But without faith it is impossible to please God.” So, we must choose to believe God [have faith in his promises] over our circumstances and never have doubt.
Do you have faith? In James 2:17 it says, “Even so faith, if it hath not works [action] is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.”
Faith is an action word. If you have faith, then you will put that faith into action, or works, believing God cannot lie. The prayer of faith always has action in it, and if it does not then that faith is dead.
Find a promise in God’s word. Speak it over yourself, [the prayer of faith] then act as if you already have received it. That is putting your faith into action.
