MARRIAGE MOMENTS*
1023. Jan. 2: As we transition to a new year, many people make resolutions to start new positive habits. Maybe you’re already satisfied with your marriage, but there’s always room for deepening your love. Pick 1 new action – perhaps a daily honest compliment, a favor, praying together… OK, even if only once a week feels doable, DO IT.
1024. Jan. 9: Reminder: Last week I suggested you pick one new daily (or weekly) marriage deepening habit for 2023. Did you do it? Great! If not, here’s your guilt free second chance. DO IT.
1025. Jan. 16: Martin Luther King emphasized that our differences need not divide us. How are you and your beloved different yet you complement each other. (Perhaps one gives attention to detail vs. seeing the whole picture, one is a quick thinker vs. thorough planner, an extrovert vs. self-reflective...)
1026. Jan. 23: “I urge you…that you be united in the same…purpose.” (1 Cor. 1:10) Spouses don’t have to agree on everything, i.e. favorite meals, politics, how to wash the dishes – BUT, what is the ultimate purpose of your life together? Agree on that. Perhaps write a short marriage mission statement today.
1027. Jan. 30: “On your wedding day you laid your life into the hands of your spouse without knowing what the future held.” (Leif Kehrwald, Marriage & the Spirituality of Intimacy) How have you been called to love your spouse in unexpected ways?
*Marriage Moments go out to individuals on Mondays. For Sunday bulletins use the Sunday immediately before the above date.
