National President
Fran Holtgreven
The month of April represents renewal, growth, hope and celebrations. Flowers bloom, days grow longer, a fresh start and a new beginning. April 14-20, 2025, is composed of all of these noted above.
April 14 is National Gardening Day. This is a fun day to celebrate the joys of gardening. April 15 is National Laundry Day. This is a fun day to appreciate clean clothes. ALSO, it is National Tax Day! April 16 is National Orchid Day. These beautiful and hard to keep alive are related to honoring and cherishing the memory of loved ones. April 17 is Blah Blah Blah Day. This is a lighthearted day to encourage people to stop talking and just enjoy some silence. It is also Holy Thursday. April 18 is World Heritage Day. This day aims to preserve historic sites and monuments around the world. This day is also Good Friday. April 19 is National Garlic Day. Garlic is a vegetable but is known as a stinking rose. It is a member of the lily family and can boost your immune system. April 20 is National Look-Alike Day. This is also Easter Sunday this year and I am sure that when you put on your Easter bonnet or dress or shoes and glide into your place of worship, family gathering, etc. you do not want people to be dressed exactly like you.
Embracing April’s themes of renewal, hope, etc. can motivate your personal growth and enrich your experience this month.
Challenges lead to brighter times. This is also a busy time of year for MOPHA. It is time for Department Conventions, election of officers in both Department and Units, forms to be filled out and sent to National and consider running for an office in your Unit, Department and especially for a National Office. Forms are available on our website: purpleheartauxiliary.org This website has all the information and dates that you will need to complete your forms for the year. Also on the website is the information for registering for the National Convention. As an Auxiliary member, you will register on this site, not on the Patriot site.
As you know, our National Secretary, Judy Fiddler, is retiring this year and National needs someone to step up and take her place. Judy has offered to be a mentor and show you all the tricks of the trade. Although this is an appointed office, it is a very special office, this office is imperative to keep this organization running smoothly. Please consider this position.
