National President
Amanda Flener
It is hard to believe that it has been just a few short weeks since our Online National Convention. While we had a short reprieve as a typical post-convention month, we are in full swing getting ready for October deadline reports, getting documents and materials up to date, and mapping out our year.
I encourage all members to join us on the monthly Zoom calls. They will be filled with information, updates, opportunities for learning, and fellowship.
I encourage officers to make sure they are in compliance with needed reports and documentation.
Besides timely Installation Reports, in order for Units to be eligible for Rebates we need:
- Finance Report to the National Treasurer by October 1st
- Verification of Accepted IRS form 990 to the National Treasurer by October 1st
- Life Member Verification Report to the National Membership Officer by October 1st.
*NOTE: Departments also need to submit Finance and 990 Verification.
A new Life Member Verification form can now be submitted electronically by CLICKING HERE.
Our members only section of the website will be live soon. Thanks to all the members who are already registering to have access.
Please don't ever hesitate to reach out to me if you need anything or have questions. Your National Leadership Team, (myself along with Senior Vice President Colleen Orfanello and Junior Vice President Kay Jo Baucom) are here to serve you along with your Region Leadership and other National Officers to serve you and we look forward to working with you this year.
In Patriotism and Service,
Amanda

National Senior Vice President
Colleen Orfanello
As I write this message; my first as MOPHA’s Senior Vice, I am weary. For the last 13 days, I have been assisting with Hurricane Laura efforts in Southwestern Louisiana. (For Business and on behalf of our
Patriots.) It is hot with no electricity, water, or cell service in certain areas. The southwestern portion of Louisiana may be without those things but what it does have is Faith, Hope, and LOVE. Just like the Apostle Paul said, these attributes prevail here. The emails, calls and texts have been constant and so very appreciated. In a world gone mad – full of sickness, hatred, confusion, and despair. It makes me so proud that our Patriot and Auxiliary members have shown their Purple Heart Pride to those in need.
Whether you are helping someone in the hurricane zone, in the California wildfire area, or anywhere on Mainstreet USA, know that YOU make a difference. Continue to help at least one person and the ripple effect from that act of kindness will be exponentially increased.
Be kind, be loving, and be the kind of American that our Patriots fought for.
Showcase your acts of kindness on social media by using the hashtag #PurpleHeartProud.
Showcase the MOPHA spirit and pride,
Colleen
Should you, your Departments or Units be willing to assist with donations, please make checks out to:
DEPT of LA MOPH Hurricane Laura Relief Fund.
They can be mailed to:

National Junior Vice President
Kay Jo Baucom
I am proud to be a part of, what I believe, is one of the most patriotic minded organizations in the world! Being the National Junior Vice President has truly been so humbling and it has fortified my sense of service to others. From the initial meeting that I attended, I was drawn to the diligence, strength, and sense of service to others displayed by the membership. I
admittedly, was overwhelmed by the precise and explicit conversations, discussions, and
thought provoking ideas expressed by the Leadership Team, the Regional officers, Department officers, and the foundational, Unit officers. Committee reports displayed an urgency to be "transparent" with the auxiliary body and communication was the key element.
Never have I felt so strongly that this organization was where I could share my passion for those who have served or are currently serving in the the military, their families, and the communities
surrounding them. MOPHA believes in helping others, with hearts and hands. This auxiliary is
not afraid of challenges and works tirelessly to alleviate those issues.
It was, and is, the courageous women in our membership that inspire me to work harder, be
more vocal to aid in bringing needed change in our world, and seize every opportunity to be an
encourager, a motivator, and a friend to those I meet. You all, represent the finest women in the
world, and I am in awe of the multi talents you each possess. I know without a doubt, I am in
the right place, with the right people! Together, there are endless possibilities to make a
difference and we will!
I want to take a moment and thank you all for allowing me to serve as your National Junior
Vice President. This is an honor and I pledge to work hard, keep lines of communication always
open, and get to know as many of you as I can. You can not possibly know how thrilled I am at being a part of this family and I truly feel we are a sisterhood - we might not always agree, but we will always share the same vision. All the words of encouragement and well wishes have given me
that "warm fuzzy feeling" and I am blessed by your sentiments. We are in this together and we
are made stronger because of that!
My hope for each of you is that you will be blessed continually by the grace and mercy of God,
that we embrace this season of fall with its cooler temperatures (sometimes snow!) with service
to others, and remember the selfless actions of our military service men and women. Keep smiling for that radiance you share may be just the thing to brighten someone else's day. Your smiles work
wonders for me!!
Standing with you in patriotism, service and love,
Kay Jo

National Membership Officer
Cheryl Perez, PNP
When changing National Officers, there is always a period of transition. This is especially true with the National Membership Officer position where the right person receiving the membership applications, transfer requests, update contact information and other forms makes a difference in the amount of time for processing the information. Please check that you are using my contact information listed below.
Life Verification Report - Due By October 1st
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: One important report due to the Membership Officer during this transition time is the Life Verification Report (LMV), one of the four requirements for receiving a rebate. If the person who submitted the LMV did not receive an email from me saying I have received and reviewed your LMV form, then your Unit does not have this requirement marked as completed on the rebate checklist used by National. (Units I have as submitted are: MI 91: MN 05, 194: NE 200, 260: WI 162, 164, 228: FL 535: GA 1000: CA 49, 106, 385, 750)
There maybe some LMV reports missed during this transition time, especially if mailed to Tara in Florida since she has been out of state on a family emergency for several weeks. If you have submitted the report, please send me a copy or resubmit it using the online form (link below or on our website).
The amount of rebate money this year is better than in previous years. If your Unit and Department is eligible for a rebate (submitted Installation Report by May 31st) you want to make sure you get the LMV report submitted on time to check off another of the rebate required documents.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

National Chaplain
Jo Ann Croney
So often we might jump into action without having truly considered the best approach, or without having even looked to God for guidance. Those whose seek council first with the Lord to have their souls first filled with wisdom, will also please the Lord.
This is my prayer, "Lord above, Almighty Father, grant me the patience to hear Your wisdom, spoken to me at every occasion. Ensure that I remain always open to Your guidance and not closed within my own selfish desires. For You see and know always what to do, and you are the ultimate power, with dominion over all. For this, I thank and praise You each and every day. O Lord, bless this organization as we work together to serve our veterans. In Jesus name I pray. Amen."
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit.
-Titus 3:5

We'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who sent cards, loving thoughts and prayers in the loss of our son, William Shattuck Jr. This is a loss that does not easily heal and will take much time. He and Bill spoke every day, if only just to say hi. We would have preferred to write back to all and thank you individually but the cards, calls and texts we received were numerous. Please know we are most grateful that you thought of us and continue to keep us in your prayers. Our most sincere thanks.

Request Funds for Unit and Department Projects
|
|
The Helping Our Veterans Grant will continue for the coming year. Each Unit or Department can request a one time grant of up to $250.
Projects done at your Unit level - the grassroots efforts are always the most impactful. We love reading about and seeing pictures from HOV projects in your communities. Remember to email your idea to the National President in advance of a request to insure your project meets guidelines. Request the funds in advance of your project and send in the required documents after you complete your projects! (Details are in the instructions on the form).
