MPB FLO AND MPB FLOW + HSA MEDICAL COST SHARING PLANS INTRODUCED

Two new programs (MPB Flow and MPB Flow+HSA) have been introduced and are available starting with October 1 effective dates. Enrollment for a first of the month effective date can be made at any time through the end of the previous month. Both combine community-based medical cost sharing, virtual healthcare, wellness resources, dental savings and more in one membership experience. The two MPB Flow products are privaely labeled for MPB Health by EverTrust Health Share and are not available elsewhere other than through MPB Health. The EvertTrust principals were previously affiliated with Zion Health Share.

These products have been introduced at this time so prospective members have additional medical cost sharing program opportunities available during ACA open enrollment and thereafter.

These programs are NOT age-banded, and there are three membership options (single; adult and child(ren) or member and spouse; and family). They come with the ability to choose between 18 Member Responsibility Amount (MRA) options beginning at $1,500 in $500 increments up to $10,000. An MRA is the part of a medical bill you pay yourself before MPB Health and its members begin sharing medical costs.

Eligibilty for the MPB+Flo program is not limited to 1099 contractors.

Each new injury or illness has its own MRA. It isn’t like an insurance deductible, where every medical bill during the year counts toward one yearly amount. If you break your arm in March and get pneumonia in August, these are two separate events, and each has its own MRA.

Once you’ve paid the MRA for an event, the rest of that event’s eligible bills are shared, including follow-up care. The event stays open as long as treatment continues. If six months go by with no treatment for it the event closes, and a new flare-up would need a new MRA.

Your family never pays more than two MRAs at a time. Both programs limit each household to two MRAs in any rolling twelve-month period, no matter how many family members need care or how many events happen. After your family has paid two MRAs within this period, later eligible events within this period over $1,000 are shared without another MRA.

Both programs are available in all states except MA, WA, and VT, whereas MPB Flow+HSA is also not available in ND.

PRE-EXISTING CONDITION PHASE-IN

For applicable pre-existing conditions, there are maximum sharing limits of $5,000 in Year 1, $30,000 in Year 2, $75,000 in Year 3 and $150,000 beginning in Year 4 for the duration of the membership. Please refer to the Membership Guidelines for complete eligibility, limitations, and requirements.

For a phased-in pre-existing condition sharing need, the sharing amounts are cumulative. This means $150,000 is the total amount allowable toward the pre-existing condition for the duration of the membership. If a member has more than one unrelated pre-existing condition, the phase-in schedule applies separately to each condition.

Medical cost sharing is a program where members share medical costs and is not insurance.

NEW DENTAL SAVINGS AND TELEDENTISTRY

Beginning October 1, 2026, eligible members of all MPB Health medical cost sharing plans (Zion, Sedera, and MPB Flow) will have access to the Careington POS Dental Network and DialCare Teledentistry.

CURRENT MEMBERS

All active MPB Health members as of September 20, 2026 receive these services automatically beginning October 1. No additional enrollment is required.

NEW MEMBERSHIPS BEGINNING OCTOBER 1

Dental savings and teledentistry will be included only with MPB Flow and MPB Flow+HSA for new memberships issued on or after October 1.

Careington Dental Savings

Members may save 20%–50% on most dental procedures, including routine care, crowns, root canals, dentures, orthodontics, and other eligible services.

DialCare Teledentistry

Licensed dentists are available 24/7/365 by phone or video for non-emergency dental concerns, questions and second opinions.

NOTE: The Careington program is a Health Care Discount Plan, not insurance. The program provides dental savings through dental discounts.

ALTERNATIVES TO ACA PLANS

ACA plan costs are expected to rise 15% or more this year. This increase reflects two factors: reduced subsidies resulting from Congress's failure to extend the Biden-era enhanced subsidies (which expired December 31, 2025, and are projected to be like 2026 levels), and higher gross premiums driven by increased utilization of services during 2026. The MPB Flo and MPB Flow+ HSA medical cost sharing programs have been announced (see first article) as another answer to the affordability of ACA plans.

Other alternatives to ACA coverage — including better-priced short-term plans and a growing range of ERISA-based plans (often referred to as individual group insurance plans) — will be available during Open Enrollment as lower-cost alternatives to ACA plans for those who are either not on subsidies or receive low subsidies.

See this link for an overview of some of the plan types that are presently available as alternatives during Open Enrollment. More of these plans are still in development and will be added to the site as they become available.
