Shared Chamber Accomplishments in 2023

The Monterey Peninsula Chamber of Commerce (Chamber) team, under the direction of our committed Board of Directors, with the partnership of our energetic committees, ambassadors, and general membership, has sought to serve our members in 2023 via: mission driven events and programs, advocacy, policy impact, and educational opportunities.

In 2023 we welcomed over 80 new members and two new Chamber staff members. Currently the Chamber represents 600+ members throughout Monterey County. We are proud of our legacy to represent business interests in government, promote our community, provide networking opportunities and connections, and to take informed political action.  

Our bi-weekly “Business Roundtable” meetings continued in 2023, a forum where we seek to provide timely, informative updates on regional topics relevant to our members such as healthcare, financial services, education, real estate, transportation, and the nonprofit sector. Our quarterly Business Insights Breakfasts were well attended and feedback from members about these events was extremely positive. Members appreciated the option of attending a morning event and found the topics covered were relevant and informative.  In the coming year our Board of Directors will focus on evaluating all our events to ensure they are mission driven and continue to provide value.  We will continue to introduce new forums for engagement which meet the needs of our members.

The Chamber remained committed to building partnerships which strengthen our impact and further our mission by participating on federal, county, and regional boards and commissions. Through these partnerships, we continued to serve as an essential resource by informing you about the latest public policy issues affecting businesses and non-profit organizations in our region through our “Prosperity Update” in our weekly Chamber Connection email bulletins.

The Chamber’s robust Government Affairs Committee (GAC) met monthly to analyze issues and take positions when needed. Key areas of focus in 2023 included housing, water, and transportation. The Economic Vitality Committee (EVC) also met monthly to learn about the latest plans of local businesses and discuss strategies for a thriving business environment. You can read the GAC and EVC highlights for 2023 and notable issues and achievements your Chamber was involved in on our website. 

As we thank our outgoing Board of Directors, and welcome our new Board, ambassadors, and committee members, we encourage you to get involved and help us shape the dynamic vision of our Chamber which is to be an essential resource for our members, a valuable advocate for the business community, and a driver of inclusivity, innovation, and prosperity for Monterey County.
