Nadine Rankin appointed manager of CTO Chapter U.K. & Europe

Nadine Rankin

The CTO Chapter U.K. & Europe has appointed hospitality veteran Nadine Rankin as its new chapter manager.

Rankin’s appointment marks an important new phase for the CTO Chapter U.K. & Europe as it continues to strengthen its support for members, expand its program of activities, and champion Caribbean tourism across the U.K. and European markets.

“The CTO Chapter has been an important part of my professional life for nearly three decades, and this feels like such a natural progression. Having had the privilege of running my own company, which enabled me to volunteer a small amount of time to supporting the Chapter, I now have the opportunity to devote my energy full-time to an organization whose mission I deeply value,” stated Rankin who is British.

Rankin recently shuttered her longstanding tourism representation company, AMG, and will work closely with Florian Valmy-Devillers, business development director of the chapter, who credited her commercial acumen and extensive industry knowledge.

“With more than 25 years of active involvement in the CTO Chapter, Nadine’s experience as treasurer will also be a valuable asset in supporting and strengthening the Chapter’s financial and administrative operations. Her ability to speak German, French and Spanish is another significant asset as we continue to strengthen our engagement across the United Kingdom and key European source markets.”

Rankin’s role is designed to provide strong operational and administrative support while contributing to the continued growth, visibility and professional development of the organization.

The recently renovated Windjammer Landing Resort & Residences has appointed Almando Rigby as general manager of the highly rated St. Lucia property.

Rigby, who most recently served as executive assistant manager at Rock House Resort, part of Grace Bay Resorts, Turks & Caicos, brings more than 20 years of experience in luxury resort operations across the Caribbean.

As general manager, he will oversee all aspects of resort operations, with a focus on strengthening performance, driving revenue and enhancing the overall guest experience. He will lead the resort’s departments to ensure consistent service standards, operational efficiency and seamless delivery of the Windjammer experience.

“The resort has built a strong reputation for outstanding hospitality. I look forward to working with the team to build on that foundation, further elevate the guest experience and reinforce its position as one of the Caribbean’s leading luxury resorts,” said Rigby, who has roots in The Bahamas and Turks and Caicos.

Rigby’s appointment marks a new chapter for Windjammer Landing following an extensive $40 million renovation of the resort in northern St. Lucia and the addition of La Belle Hélène, an ultra-exclusive 10-bedroom estate in Soufrière in the island’s south.

Tink Bout It

“[If I could change the world], I would take a thread and a needle and I’d interweave love into our society ... the absence of love in our society is absolutely palpable. I feel like the empathy we have for one another, the tolerance that we have, it’s completely eroded. I would have the world spinning on this axis of love ... because we’ve lost our way. The essence of love might seem like a very underrated thing or a very melancholic thing, but it’s really important.” — The late Jason Arday, Professor of Sociology (Cambridge University’s youngest Black professor) Source: Channel 4 News

Medical Moment

World Humanitarian Day is observed on Aug. 19. The day recognizes humanitarian workers who provide critical assistance to people affected by emergencies, conflict and other crises around the world.

From the Caribbean to South America, Africa, the Middle East and the world over, communities continue to face humanitarian challenges that disrupt lives, livelihoods and access to essential services.

World Humanitarian Day is an opportunity to recognize the individuals and organizations working on the front lines to support those in need. Their commitment reflects the importance of compassion, solidarity and collective action when communities are experiencing hardship.

It is also a reminder that humanitarian assistance can provide not only practical support but also hope, dignity and reassurance to people navigating some of life’s most difficult circumstances.
