Superintendent's Message
Dear Mt. Pleasant Community,

It is a joy to welcome you back! In a few days, our students will return to our classrooms and campuses, and our teachers and staff will guide them to a successful academic and social-emotional experience.

We have planned a variety of engaging events to celebrate the beginning of this school year and highlight the collaboration among our students, educators and families.

Enrollment opportunities are still open. We are proud to offer programs and services that support our students. Our after-school programs are ready to provide extracurricular activities that nurture the children and expand their abilities.

We are happy to open our classrooms again and look forward to seeing you all! Thank you for your partnership!

In community spirit,

Dr. Elida MacArthur
Superintendent

Update to Mask Policy
In line with Santa Clara County guidelines, masks will not be required at MPESD, but are encouraged. Our district will continue to provide masks for students and staff as requested.

In the efforts to prevent COVID-19, the CDC states that:
  • Masking is a critical public health tool, and it is important to remember that any mask is better than no mask.
  • Get vaccinated and up to date with the COVID-19 vaccines. COVID-19 vaccines are highly effective at preventing severe illness, hospitalizations and death. For the best protection, everyone 6 months and older is recommended to stay up with their COVID-19 vaccines, which includes getting boosters if eligible.
  • Test yourself immediately if you have COVID-19 symptoms. If you were exposed to someone with COVID-19, test at least 5 days after your exposure. If you test negative for COVID-19, consider testing again 1 to 2 days after your first test.

This video from County of Santa Clara Public Health has important information about COVID-19 vaccines for children.
COVID-19 Testing Kits Available If
Your Student is Having Symptoms
If your child is experiencing coronavirus symptoms or has been exposed to COVID-19, you can reach out to your school site, at the front office, and request a test kit to test your student before they return to the classrooms. Safety is a priority! Thank you for helping protect our school community.
Welcoming our School Community
with Fun Events!
Our schools have organized fun and engaging events to welcome students, families and staff to a new school year. These are great opportunities to meet our teachers and team members! It is an exciting time to connect with our educators and school leadership. Each school is organizing its own events and reaching out to parents and guardians. We are all looking forward to learning more about what amazing things this 2022-2023 school year will bring!
Our Engaging After School Programs
We have exciting opportunities with Mt. Pleasant After School (MPAS). MPAS is free to all participating students, and operates Monday to Friday from the time school is out until 6:00 pm.

All students are welcome! We focus on bringing students in that are identified by administrators and teachers as high need students, including students that are homeless, in foster care, struggling with assistance, English Language Learners (ELL) students, and students that have low attendance rates.

During MPAS, staff help students complete homework, and guide fun learning activities using technology such as iReady and Kahoot to engage students and advance student achievement. The program takes place on campus and is in-person, directly after school. Click here for more details

Registration for MPAS programs: August 10, 2022
Location: August Boeger Middle School, 1944 Flint Ave.
Time: 10am - 11am (Arrive early, enrollment is on a first come basis!)
Meals Are Free! Families: Please Support our Schools by Completing the Income Form
School meals are free for all students in California, to ensure that children have access to nutritious food and are better prepared for daily learning. There is no cost to receive a meal at school for everyone! Although school meals are free, we ask families to please still complete an Alternate Income Form. By completing this form, you can bring many benefits to your school, including more resources, funding for after-school programs and counseling services.

Please download a form by visiting our website or request a form at the district office or your school office. Thank you for supporting our schools and our students!
