Happy New Year, Mt. Pleasant!
We are very excited to welcome you back to school for the start of 2025. We hope you and your loved ones had a happy and restful holiday!
As we progress through the remainder of the school year, we encourage students to explore, take on new challenges, and expand their horizons. Our staff and resources are here to support your educational and personal growth.
Parents, you are the cornerstone of your child's success. Let's prioritize attendance, encourage engagement in learning opportunities, and stay connected with our teachers. Your involvement enhances your understanding of your child's needs and equips you to support them effectively.
Staff and teachers, your daily efforts make our District a nurturing place for learning. Let's build on our achievements and strive for greater impact in 2025!
Thank you to all MPESD community members for your contributions and collaboration.
Best regards,
Dr. Elida MacArthur

MPAS Holiday Gift Drive Spreads Joy in East San Jose
Our Mt. Pleasant Elementary School District's After-School Program (MPAS) was recently featured on NBC Bay Area and Telemundo for its Holiday Gift Drive. This meaningful initiative highlights the commitment of our students and staff to making our community a better place for all.
Led by Program Coordinator Daniel Patton, MPAS students and leaders undertook a mission to ensure low-income families and unhoused residents received gifts this Christmas. Thanks to the overwhelming support from MPESD families, our MPAS program was able to distribute essential items to our community, including blankets, gloves, and more.
We’re so proud of everyone who helped make the holidays better for others in our community. Whether you donated items, volunteered your time, or offered support in any form, your dedication has made someone’s day. Your actions help make MPESD a place where every student strives to become a better person every day.

Supporting an Inclusive School Culture
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) are core values at MPESD. We are committed to creating an anti-racist, compassionate, and inclusive school culture where every individual is treated with dignity in our diverse community. DEIB lessons in January are about the Lunar New Year, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, New Year’s Resolutions, Jehovah’s Witness Awareness, Global Family Day/World Peace Day, Kings Day, and Korean American Day. The character trait is Initiative.
In February, the focus will be on Black History Month, President’s Day, and Valentine’s Day. The character trait is Courage.
If you are interested in learning more about DEIB, please reach out to your school to further the conversation. Thank you for supporting an inclusive school community!
