We are pleased to provide our students, parents, staff and community with the latest information about our Mt. Pleasant Elementary School District community through this newsletter. Please join us on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube to connect with us daily!
Dear Mt. Pleasant community,
We deeply appreciate the teamwork among our staff, students, families, and community partners, which has been instrumental in enriching our students' educational journey.
We collaborated with the East Side Union High School District, the County of Santa Clara and the City of San Jose to provide Community Wi-Fi for our students and their families. This free resource is primarily intended to help students complete their schoolwork. We encourage you to create your account and take advantage of this opportunity.
Our school district will be impacted by the upcoming election. Stable funding is critical to supporting our schools, which is why our Board of Trustees placed two measures on the November 5, 2024, ballot. Measure S is the Science and Technology General Obligation Bond, and Measure T is the School Renovations Bond.
If voters approve these measures, funds generated will be used to expand and improve academic programs, resources, and infrastructure at our schools. We encourage you to cast your vote and let your voice be heard.
Last but not least, we thank parents and guardians for your efforts in making sure your students attend school every day. Attendance is a key indicator of a student’s academic success. Creating routines and rewarding attendance inspires students to look forward to school and do their best. We appreciate your support.
Sincerely,
Dr. Elida MacArthur
Superintendent

MPAS Honored with 2024 Golden Bell Award
We are excited to share that the Mount Pleasant After School Program (MPAS) has been honored as an official 2024 Golden Bell Award Winner. MPAS received a successful validation from the California School Boards Association (CSBA) Golden Bell Awards, which promote excellence in education and school board governance by recognizing outstanding programs and governance practices of school boards in school districts and county offices of education throughout California. The Golden Bell Awards reflect the depth and breadth of education programs and governance decisions supporting these programs that are necessary to address students’ changing needs.
The celebration to honor MPAS and this year’s award winners will take place on Thursday, December 5, 2024, in Anaheim.
MPAS is free to all participating students. Under the leadership of Daniel Patton, Program Coordinator, MPAS operates Monday through Friday, from the time school is out until 6:00pm. This after-school program at Mt. Pleasant Elementary School District is built around three central components: Homework Center, Enrichment Classes, and Physical Activity & Sports Programs.
The goal of MPAS is to empower leaders, inspire students, and unite communities. Thank you all for supporting our students and making MPAS an award-winning program! Congratulations!

MPESD Measures S and T on the November 5, 2024, Ballot
Schools are the heart of our community. Our District is facing financial challenges, and the Mt. Pleasant Elementary School District’s Board of Trustees has placed two general obligation bond measures, Measure S and Measure T, on the upcoming November 5 general election ballot. If approved by District voters, the two measures will authorize locally controlled funds to make renovations and improvements to schools and classrooms throughout our District.
Measures S and T, if approved, will expand Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics in classrooms and update technology and emergency communication systems at all District schools. These measures will also fund improvements to expand facilities focused on student counseling and mental health services, ensure accessibility for disabled children, and to repair and renovate school libraries, and repair roofs.
The measures include provisions for citizen oversight and full public disclosure of all spending. All funds raised would stay local and could not be redirected or taken away by the state.
Should you have any questions regarding Measures S and T, please access the link to our District's website at https://www.mpesd.org/Page/6583.
We encourage you to embrace your civic duty and cast your vote. Your voice is valuable.
Please watch this video with an important message.
