“It’s difficult to say goodbye to the MPH community,” Goldman acknowledged, “but I hope to inspire our students to pursue their own dreams with passion, authenticity and purpose."

“Over the past three years, Tim has been an invaluable member of the MPH community,” said Will O’Malley, athletic director. “Given his relatively short tenure, he leaves behind an amazing legacy. He has brought enthusiasm, thoughtfulness, and a continued excellence to the MPH soccer program.” Goldman assumed the role of MPH’s boys varsity soccer head coach in 2022 following Don Ridall’s retirement after 46 years with MPH and as one of only four coaches in New York State history to exceed 600 wins. Since his appointment, the soccer program has experienced a boom in interest while putting up three winning seasons and strong postseason play, including the season that just concluded. Adding O’Malley, “It has been a pleasure to see him grow as a player and coach, and more importantly, as a person.”

In addition to Goldman’s role as head coach, he served as associate director for community programs overseeing MPH’s summer programs as well as an advancement associate in the alumni office. "It's been a tremendous privilege to return to the school that gave me so much as a student,” said Goldman. “Our intellectual curiosity is truly inspiring, and I am forever grateful for the chance to have made an impact in a number of roles.” He added, “While I’ll now be stepping back into the role of alumnus, I’m genuinely excited about the future of MPH and the strength of our community."

MPH Alumni from the classes of 1991 to 2017 gathered in New York City on November 13, for a fun night of reconnection and even at bit of Karaoke (there are some great MPH voices out there!) at AWOL Bar and Grill, owned by Jared Balanoff ’91. Memories were shared about favorite faculty (yes Mr. Curtis is still teaching, and Mrs. Bentley-Hoke is still coaching!), the thrills of a windy day walking through the ‘Breezeway,’ the short-lived but successful MPH Cheerleading Team, and the old gym ceiling that was a bit too low for volleyball!

MPH was fortunate to welcome former student Carmella Boykin `17 to campus last week to present to Mr. Twomey-Smith's political science class. Ms. Boykin works for The Washington Post as a host and producer for the outlet's TikTok team.

Celebrating our Veterans

On Monday, November 4, 2024, MPH held a Veterans Day assembly where we were honored to welcome Major Colin Goepfert P'31 as our guest speaker. With heartfelt authenticity, Major Goepfert shared his personal journey, reflecting on how his childhood in Canada offered little exposure to the military, and how his path led him to serve in the U.S. Air Force. He described his work as a remotely piloted aircraft (RPA) pilot, highlighting the evolving roles in modern military service that utilize technology to protect national security while reducing risks to troops. He also recounted a memorable humanitarian mission, in which he and his team provided critical aid to the Philippines after Typhoon Haiyan, a moment he deeply values. Major Goepfert reminded us that Veterans Day is about more than military service—it’s a call to serve in all walks of life, upholding values of duty, honor, and courage. Major Colin Goepfert is the father of William Goepfert (Class of '31) and husband of MPH Lower School teacher, Rachel Goepfert. We thank their family and all our MPH military families for the service and sacrifice.

MPHMUN Conference Celebrates 25 Years

On Saturday, October 26, 2024, MPH hosted its 25th MPHMUN Conference, with the theme, The Future We Build. Per the MUN website, "This theme perfectly encapsulates the power that we have to make an impact in this ever-changing world. We invite delegates to consider the power of policy, technology, and diplomacy in creating a sustainable future."

The keynote speaker for the conference was Syracuse University's Dr. Hamid Ekbia, from the Maxwell School of Citizenship & Public Affairs. He is also the director of the Autonomous Systems Policy Institute at the university. Ekbia’s research focuses the political economy of computing, in the future of work, and in how technologies mediate socio-economic, cultural, and geo-political relations of modern societies. Former MPH teacher and instrumental MUN coach Dr. Jeff Mangram also served as a guest speaker for the opening ceremonies.

Amitees Fazeli '25 Nabs Sectional Title

Senior Amitees Fazeli earned a Section III title on October 18, 2024. Fazeli was the top seed in singles.

SU Football captain LeQuint Allen stopped by MPH to impart his words of wisdom on the topic of leadership to student-athletes. Captains representing MPH athletics had the opportunity to ask questions. They were incredibly grateful for this opportunity from someone who exemplifies leadership on and off the field.
