SPCHS Seminar Series: Seven Directions Public Health Institute


Dr. Myra Parker is the director of the Seven Directions Public Health Institute (7D PHI), the first national public health institute in the United States to focus solely on Indigenous health and wellness. She will talk about the history and development of 7D PHI, the projects that are currently operated by the institute, and the role of Indigenous health and wellness in the American public health system.

Public Health Grant Writing 101: The nuts and bolts of getting organized, getting clarity, and getting funded


Does the thought of grant writing intimidate you? Or just make you want to run for the hills? In this workshop, veteran grant writer Katie Loveland will share tools to take the pain out of grant writing and equip you to develop compelling grant proposals to fund your public health program. Participants will learn how to identify funding opportunities, craft persuasive narratives, structure budgets, and align proposals with funder priorities.

Public Health in the Schools Initiative


The Public Health in the Schools initiative has developed curriculum modules to promote public health topics and careers in high schools across Montana, and we are very close to finalizing the modules. If you have connections with high schools in your community, please reach out to us!


We will offer: 5 curriculum modules on the core disciplines of public health, a lesson to leverage data from each school's PurpleAir monitor(s), a summer teacher workshop, and can we help organize classroom presentations with public health professionals.


Currently, the project is actively working to connect with health departments and recruiting schools to be part of this exciting initiative! Please email Kristen.Cram@mso.umt.edu for more information.
