Happy Holidays MPI New England! As we are about to dive into the merriest time of year I thought it would be important to take a moment and reflect on what an amazing year we’re having within our Chapter.

January 1st marks the half way point of the MPI year, and, at the risk of rocking a Dad Joke, in 2020 our leadership team and committee volunteers will continue to focus on what makes our chapter great - you all, the collective membership. We’ve been hard at work these first six months delivering some great education and networking opportunities that, hopefully, you’ve been able to participate in and we have even more planned for the next 6 months. Our chapter is financially strong, our partnerships are continuing to grow and the sense of community is continuing to build. I’m really excited for what we have in store and am looking forward to working with you all to help achieve your New Year’s goals!

On behalf of the Board of Directors and the Chapter Administrators Team, I want to wish you and your families a safe and happy Holiday Season! Warning, one more Dad Joke - see you all next year!

Missed the November Meeting?
If you’ve never attended an MPI Educational Institute you should consider coming next year! This one-and-a-half day program is filled with outstanding education sessions, great networking opportunities, a delightful “After Dark” evening reception and delicious food and beverages.

This year, we were so honored to be hosted by the iconic Park Plaza Hotel. The hotel team treated us to scrumptious, interactive food options during breaks as well as a multiple buffet station lunch in their new Avenue 34 event space.

Keynote and educational sessions were held in the spectacular and newly renovated Grand Ballroom (formerly called the Imperial Ballroom) and breakout sessions were spread throughout the other meeting rooms. The educational sessions offered something for everyone with topics ranging from sales to technology trends and supplier-planner relationships. The Keynote speeches got us all fired up and ready to take on 2020!!
4 Major Marketing Trends for 2020 and Beyond
by Alp Mimaroglu, Demand Generation and Marketing Technology Expert
Can you believe it’s almost 2020? When I began my marketing career over a decade ago in 2009, I could hardly imagine what I’d be doing today as a marketing leader at an enterprise organization, especially with technology. But each year, new and disruptive technological innovations are forcing marketers like me to evolve our best practices. Digital marketing, once the only game in town, has given way to multichannel marketing; and today, we are rapidly approaching the omnichannel marketing age.

And that can be overwhelming: As the rate of marketing innovation continues to accelerate, most organizations are having a hard time keeping up. But the good news is that new ways of doing things bring new opportunities.

1. Optimizing for on-SERP SEO

Ever hear of zero-click results? You’ve probably seen them. A  zero-click result  is a search result in which Google automatically provides the answer to the search query in the form of an automated snippet.

For example, if you type in ,“What is the temperature in San Francisco?” Google will automatically provide you a result it generates on its own. You’d actually have to scroll down to see the Adwords results and organic search results.
Google auto-populates search results for much broader queries, as well. Everything from “What is a cryptocurrency?” to “How do I create a marketing funnel?” has a snippet that may prevent a searcher from scrolling down to see more results.

Why is this significant? Because 61.8 percent of search results in Google are now zero-search results,  according to data from Jumpshot . As a result, more and more keywords are becoming less profitable.

While the automatic snippet sometimes comes from a website that ranks somewhere on page 1 of the search engine results page (SERP), companies are unsure how to optimize their content so that Google chooses them over anyone vying for the same spot. Needless to say, this is a concerning development for any business that markets or advertisers on Google.

Opportunity:  The brand that figures out on-SERP SEO first will have a huge competitive edge.
The FUN Difference
Sponsored Content

When you are planning an event…

Do you work with vendors that not only HEAR what you say but truly LISTEN?

Do they put your interests ahead of their own?

If they don’t have what you want, will they refer to someone that does, even if that referral is to a direct competitor?

If you answered no to any of the above, maybe it is time to find a new vendor or two.

Maybe it is time to contact FUN Enterprises.

For almost 30 years FUN Enterprises, Inc. has been working with their clients to help them not only produce great events but lower their stress level while doing it. Let’s face it, planning, coordinating and producing an event is not easy. Especially, if some of the people that you are working with put their own self-interests before those of you or your end client. At FUN Enterprises we do not see ourselves as just someone that you hire, we are part of your team. One of our strengths is that we don’t just hear what you are saying, we truly listen. We put the needs of our clients first. Even after 30 years and thousands of events we still truly love what we do, and that shows in the way we strive to make every event we are a part of extra special. Whether it is a small intimate gathering of family and friends or a corporate anniversary for thousands, FUN Enterprises staff is there with you every step of the way.

In the unlikely event that we can’t help you directly, more than likely we know someone that can and will happily refer you to them. Don’t just take our word for it, please ask some of our clients. We would be happy to send you some references.

Contact us today for our guide to making some smart choices for hiring a vendor or subcontractor.

MPI: When did you start working in the events industry?

I started working in the events industry in 2012 at Oyster Harbors Club.

MPI : What is your current position and how has you MPI membership helped you in your career path?

I am currently the Group Sales and Catering Manager at The Row Hotel at Assembly Row, which was recently named the 3 rd Best City Hotel in the United States by Travel & Leisure Magazine.

MPI has helped my career by providing an avenue to network, stay in the know of trends and helping me get my CMP, which I hope to have by the end of 2020.

MPI: What are some things you like to do outside of work or volunteering with MPI?

After work you will either find me at Title boxing, core power yoga or at home watching Hulu.

MPI: Tell us something about yourself we (probably) don’t know.

Every year my family has a grape harvest party at my cousins house in Attleboro and we make wine that is ready by Christmas time. It’s normally held at the end of September. Everyone picks the grapes, we crush them with a hand cracked machine, and then we pick out all the vines. It. Then gets stored until Christmas.

MPI: Why did you start volunteering for MPI?

I started volunteering for MPI to get more involved, gain experience in something different from my normal day-to-day work and to connect with new people.
