2021 is finally here. I want each of you to think back to January of 2020 and look at how much your life has changed in just twelve months. Some of us have lost loved ones, and others have added to their families. We’ve been laid off, furloughed and started new careers; none of it has been easy. But you are a survivor, and while there will still be many challenges in 2021, there is a light at the end of the tunnel that burns brighter every day.

First of all, thank you to Drew Murray, magician extraordinaire, for sharing your talents with us during the Virtual MIX last month! I also want to express my gratitude to Kellye DeMott for coordinating everything at the last minute due to Covid restrictions. The entire event was filled with wonderful tricks, incredible networking and plenty of humor.

This month, Sarah Freeman and Tara Henderson have planned a fantastic and engaging virtual education on January 20 with highly sought speaker Beth Z. Beth, “Your Nerdy Best Friend”, is going to help us all get organized and ready to go for the upcoming year! Membership 101 or networking will take place prior to Beth’s talk so be sure to sign up for either of those options as well. I look forward to seeing all of you there.

Finally, I want you to know that despite the horrible start to Christmas morning, I learned how truly beautiful our chapter is. Shannon, Melanie and I began receiving text messages to let us know that a bomb had gone off in downtown Nashville. Our first thoughts were of our members. Was everyone okay? Who lives down there? How many of our members have been affected? Is there anything we can do? Just nine months earlier we were asking the same questions when the tornado destroyed our region, and here we were again with another tragedy.

The power of MPI Tennessee resonated through our chapter and with our friends downtown, and we discovered that nobody was injured or killed. Even with that thankful news, we want you to know that if any of you were affected or need support because of this horrific act, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or any of our Board of Directors. We are here for you, just as you are always there for us.
