While reading through some episodes of the Andy Stanley Leadership podcast, one episode titled “Belongship is the New Leadership” immediately piqued my interest. The podcast interviews Sangram Vajre, Author and Co-Founder of Terminus, who has come up with the ingenious term, “Belongship”.

Belongship: Creating a Sense of Belonging based on Trust, Safety & Care.

Sangram talks about how to achieve Belongship by being intentional. He states “Being intentional is more important than being brilliant.” As soon as I heard this… MIND BLOWN.  He discusses how leadership’s meaning has been butchered; and his idea of Belongship curates positive culture; that a clear sense of belonging must exist within your community to be a successful organization. This resonated with me to my core. When reflecting on who or what gives me a sense of belonging in my life, my family was my first thought and you, my MPI family, were my second.

It was wonderful to see 109 people come together for our ReConnect event this past week. Getting back to pre-pandemic numbers and seeing so many hugs and smiles warmed my heart. Sangram states “Without a community, you’re simply a commodity.” Without our community, I would be a HOT commodity, but just a commodity nonetheless. My hope is that each one of you feels a sense of Belongship whenever you attend any MPI Tennessee event. I hope you experience a sense of welcoming and know you are connected to an organization of impactful industry leaders and that you belong.
