President's Message
Wow, we sure have had the April showers, hopefully we have some dryer and warmer days ahead this month. April was a fantastic month of social gatherings. We had a great celebration of Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID) at the George Jones Museum and also a great MIX event at Wildhorse Saloon. We're so glad you all came out and hopefully you made some great industry connections.
May is here and that means our biggest event of the year is right around the corner. Our annual Circle of Excellence Awards Gala and Auction is scheduled for May 18th at the Country Music Hall of Fame. This is going to be such a fun exciting night recognizing some of our members' accomplishments in the industry. Congratulations to all the nominees, you should be very proud of yourselves. We encourage all of you to attend and also bring guests; significant others, friends, colleagues, parents, bosses, anyone really. Come one, come all. Also, be sure to check out the online action prior to the event. There are some really great items listed already and there are many more to come. All funds raised will support MPI Tennessee.
There a lot more information about our chapter and upcoming events below. Be sure to read on. And if you haven't liked our Facebook or Twitter pages, please do so. We share lots of information through social media as well.
See you soon!

Chapter Business Summit Recap
|
|
Erika Biddix, CMM, CMP, Incoming President Elect
I was honored to attend MPI's annual Chapter Business Summit (CBS) in Dallas this year as the Tennessee Chapter's President-Elect. What a jam-packed (and fun!) filled three days. I was able to spend quality time not just with the leadership of our chapter, but with incoming leaders from across the globe. My biggest takeaways? The industry is booming, MPI offers amazing opportunities to their membership, and being a leader is all about serving your members! The similarities between chapters are striking, regardless of size, and being able to gather ideas, solutions and professional contacts from near and far was priceless.
Cory Brooks, CMP, Incoming VP, Education My experience at CBS (Chapter Business Summit) representing the upcoming year as VP of Education was awesome! We met in Dallas, TX and it was cool having fellow chapter leaders from all over the world get together and learn from each other and how to use the MPI Global team to help make a better experience for our members. I had the opportunity to present on some of the great ideas we have done for meetings this past year, such as CONNECT, Michael Dominguez, Carol Norfleet's Millennial program, and our Roundtables. I shared how we come up with the ideas and some of the specifics on the calendar and working with vendors. The information that was shared during the sessions was amazing! I am energized and armed with some great new ideas for the upcoming year such as how to get big name presenters and new fun and memorable formats for the meetings. Another bonus to participating in CBS was the opportunity to meet, network and exchange ideas with other chapter leaders doing the same thing. I think we will definitely be working with other chapters to make ours even better in the future. Each of us that attended came away energized and full of new ideas, so we can't wait for next year to unfold...
