Happy Fall MPI Tennessee!! Even if the weather has yet to feel like it, the décor, food and atmosphere in the Nelson Leadership Lodge at last month’s meeting helped to bring the season to the chapter. As a planner, I’d like to (jokingly) say congrats to the hoteliers on the news STR shared – it’s a good time to be in the industry, especially in our great state. It was also exciting to hear some of the news on the horizon, which you can get a quick recap of below.
I’m excited for all of the upcoming events – this month we’ve got what we’re internally calling the “AV petting zoo” – a chance to get up close to some of the newest and most exciting ways to use AV in your programs.

Our members in the West will be volunteering at the Mid-South Food Bank – if you’re in Memphis, please join them for a hands-on opportunity. We also have our annual leadership academy, a chance to get in depth information on the chapter and ways you can take on a leadership position in the future. And last but not least, make sure to mark your calendars for our annual CONNECT event November 8-9. We’ve revamped the agenda this year, and Thursday night will now feature both a reception and the supplier/planner roundtables. On Friday, friends of the chapter Michael Dominguez and Michelle Johnson will both present to us, and we also have other topical breakouts.
Last, I’d like to close with a big THANK YOU to our membership. You all are why the chapter is so great and seeing your smiling faces every month and hearing how MPI Tennessee is making your life better is the BEST.
Best,

con-nect
Verb
- Bring together or into contact so that a real link is established
CONNECT November 2018 is just around the corner! We will gather in Nashville, TN on
Thursday, November 8 and Friday, November 9 for two days of networking, personal and professional development, and to
CONNECT. If you have not been to MPITN’s annual event, this is the year to join us!
I wanted to introduce a few improvements this year to the event.
- Networking. Networking is one of the major reasons we are members of MPI and what makes our chapter so great! Our networking event and round tables will now start in the early afternoon on Thursday, November 8. This will allow us all a little more time to get to know each other over the duration of the event. We are changing it up a bit this year and you won’t want to miss it.
- Month change. We are moving CONNECT to a new home in our MPI Tennessee programming calendar. The winter can be a tricky time for travel in the Southeast. CONNECT will now take place in November moving forward.
Michael Dominguez, Chief Sales Officer at MGM Grand Resorts International will be our Friday luncheon Keynote.
Michelle Johnson, owner at The Anchor Group, will be our opening plenary speaker and emcee throughout the event. We will also offer breakout sessions, roundtables, and a lot of networking opportunities. This will be a great event to get you excited for the new year and planning for 2019!
I hope that you will join us for CONNECT November 2018 in Downtown Nashville, TN on November 8 and 9 for one of my personal favorite events of the year.

You asked. We answered!
Over the years, our members have seen the significant growth of our chapter and its impact in the industry. You know it makes good business sense to connect with other like-minded industry professionals through social media, online advertising and newsletter announcements. Many of you have asked what options we have available and how you could do this.
The Board of Directors listened to your requests. After much discussion, we agree that we definitely want you all to engage with each other outside of meetings. We want to offer as many members a chance to strategically target other member’s business. This is usually accomplished through a Platinum or Gold cash sponsorship. However, we realize that not every member or business can afford these, so we are rolling out our A LA CARTE options only available to MPI Tennessee members.
The Offerings
Website Promotion - $250 per month
- One (1) calendar month website visibility on mpitn.org
- Two (2) available per month.
Social Media Promotion - $250 per post

- Member may only purchase 2 max for the year.
Here’s the nitty gritty:
- We are offering a limited number of these options as to not overwhelm our members with advertisements and offers. We want to keep our communications channels mainly MPI information focused.
- These are for MEMBERS ONLY!!! We want your membership to offer value and this is one of those opportunities.
- These options are first come; first paid; first reserved.
- Payment is due 10 days from the time you reserve your spot, or it will be released to other members on a waiting list.
- Deadlines for submission are hard and fast. If you miss one, there is no make-up option.
- These options are available October 1 thru June 1, 2019 or the next 9 months.
