As we head into October, it feels like there are so many things to celebrate right now. The Volunteers won their first football game…the Titans beat the Vikings…we had our first in-person MIX event…we can finally turn off the air conditioning…and the list goes on and on. We need to remember to celebrate and enjoy every single good thing that comes our way.

For the past two weeks I’ve been in northern Wisconsin taking care of two Covid-positive parents. My mom had a fairly easy time, but my dad was in the hospital for a week getting the plasma antibody and Remdesivir treatments. He is now home and improving every day. Believe it or not, I tested negative twice after living in close quarters with both of them, so I am a firm believer in wearing my stylish mask and washing my hands. A HUGE hug and thank you to Shannon Jones for all she did for me and the chapter while I was busy making ER visits.

Congratulations to Nathan Honeycutt of Macro Productions for being selected as our Volunteer of the Year, and Wildhorse Saloon for getting top votes for the Pillar Award! Both Nathan and Wildhorse deserve these awards for all they do to help support MPI Tennessee through their time, talents and sponsorships.

MPI Tennessee was fortunate to have both virtual and in-person MIX events this month. For those of you that missed it, the virtual Escape Game was so much fun. Thank you to Roobricks for hosting! On September 30, we held the MIX Coffee and Catch Up event at the stunning Virgin Hotel. Thanks to the hotel and Groups 360 for sponsoring our first in-person event in months! Many thanks to and Kellye DeMott and Cayce Brasel for organizing these wonderful networking opportunities.

I also want to thank Ashleigh Cote for putting together the Diaper Connection Community Service event, and everyone who volunteered their time or donated money for such a worthy cause. Look for our next community service project in the coming months!

Finally, remember all of the exciting events we have coming up this month. Membership 101 is free and open to all members and will be an in-person event at the Wildhorse Saloon or feel free to watch online. On October 21, we will have a hybrid educational event with networking. On October 23, Melanie Blanche and Robyn Bass will be hosting the Leadership Academy at Aloft West End for anyone interested in joining the Board or learning about getting more involved with the chapter.

Don’t forget that the Board is always here for our members, so feel free to reach out for any questions about upcoming events, financial assistance or how to get more involved with our incredible chapter. Our members are the reason we are the best chapter in the world!
