Transportation Secretary and lickspittle Christian nationalist tRump sycophant Sean Duffy’s effectuating of the illicit, unethical, and iniquitous return of the giant Jesus painting at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy to its original unconstitutional place of disgusting Christian supremacist exhibitionism in an ornate, mandatory Academy meeting room is completely cowardly, atrocious, and vindictive.
It is absolutely akin to a stray dog urinating on a neighborhood tree to mark its territory. Duffy is making sure to brand the Academy as conquered Christian nationalist territory. All others are not wanted and need not apply.
He has disgracefully clothed the all-too-willing U.S. Merchant Marine Academy with his fundamentalist Christian extremist thuggery, stinking nonsecular screed, and unbridled sectarian fundamentalist Christian conceit.
Indeed, the U.S. government owned, funded, and operated Academy is now completely indistinguishable from private Christian colleges like the late Jerry Falwell’s Liberty University and the also late Pat Robertson’s Regent University where the display of such a painting would be, of course, 100% fine.
The Military Religious Freedom Foundation is taking a number of direct actions, including considering aggressive federal litigation here, to combat this despicable outrage of dominionist Christian supremacy, primacy, exceptionalism, and tyranny.
Regarding the just-mentioned federal litigation, MRFF demands that Secretary Duffy, the Department of Transportation, and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy take every possible measure to preserve and protect all records, electronic and in all other forms, related to this sordid matter for the discovery phase of any possible legal action, to certainly include Freedom of Information Act requests.
While all of these options are being carefully evaluated, the Military Religious Freedom Foundation is now formally announcing a serious parental warning to “keep away” to the mothers, fathers, and guardians of any prospective U.S. Merchant Marine Academy candidates for admission, lest they allow their children to try to attend the unconstitutional, fundamentalist Christian nationalist filth-saturated institution that the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy has tragically devolved into.
