Statement on tRump Admin Allowing Supervisors to Proselytize to Subordinates During Duty Day

"Today's latest Nazi directives out of the tRump regime's Office of Personnel Management, which controls essentially all civilians in all U.S. government agencies, erases the final obstacle for civilian supervisors to proselytize their otherwise helpless subordinates with the weaponized gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF) cannot express enough revulsion with this latest directive of fundamentalist Christian supremacy, triumphalism, as well as universal and profane disrespect and brutality.

I would say it is shocking, but nothing should really shock anymore coming from the fascistic precepts of this White House as described in Project 2025, which is the manifesto for MAGA and its chosen form of religious faith which is wholly unconstitutional, Christian nationalism.

The MAGA monsters in this White House have argued that there's nothing new in this directive because it goes back to a similar directive in the Clinton administration nearly 1/3 of a century ago. Irrespective of the merits of that, as a matter of law, we have been in this fight for nearly 22 years and have gone after multiple thousands of federal employee supervisors for this VERY same proselytizing filth.

Let me state now and for the record that not a SINGLE one of them has EVER argued that they were protected in their pernicious proselytizing by this Clinton-era memo derived from the Religious Freedom Restoration Act. As a practical manner, it has NEVER happened even once!

The MRFF represents thousands of civilian employees throughout the Department of Defense, the 18 national security agencies, the U.S. Coast Guard in the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Maritime service, specifically the US Merchant Marine Academy.

MRFF will never stop aggressively and tirelessly advocating on behalf of our legions of federal civilian and, of course military clients.

Indeed, the message to our federal civilian clients is, if you are being proselytized by your supervisors-whether or not they are claiming today's Nazi-directive as justification-please contact us immediately.

With the appropriate plaintiff/civilian personnel clients, litigation WILL ensue.

More to come on this. Please stay tuned!"

Federal employees can pray and preach in the workplace under new Trump rules

Politico reports on a memo from the Office of Personnel Management that allows proselytizing of co-workers by federal employees, including superiors proselytizing subordinates to “persuade others of the correctness of their own religious views.”

The article quotes MRFF’s Mikey Weinstein on why supervisors being allowed to proselytize their subordinates is not only unconstitutional but a recipe for coercion:

“If your supervisor decides to sit down and make it very clear that it’s important to her or him, that you accept this weaponized version of the gospel of Jesus Christ, what do you think your chances are for advancement?”
