The Young Turks (TYT) “Progress Report” reports on “Christo-Fascism in the Military,” citing MRFF’s story of a military commander who, in retaliation for having to change his uber-Christian Christmas party to a more inclusive event, displayed a picture of Mikey Weinstein on a screen at a unit gathering, calling him an “anti-Christian terrorist,” and telling his unit to lobby for Rep. Mike Turner’s National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) amendment to shut MRFF down.

Lexington, Kentucky, NPR station WEKU reports that Melissa Holland, the executive director of the Kentucky Council of Churches, says she’s not upset over the removal of the Bibles from the VA facility POW/MIA tables, quoting her as saying:
“I believe if you wanted to be fair, there are displays that show the various symbols of all religions. And if they put something like that on display to honor all veterans, no matter what their religion is, it would be more appropriate.”

Kentucky VA facility yanks Bible from POW/MIA table after complaint: 'Tarantula on a wedding cake'

The Christian Post covers MRFF’s victory, on behalf of a group of twelve veterans, in getting the Gideons “New Testament – Psalms, Proverbs” replaced by a blank journal on POW/MIA tables in all Lexington, Kentucky, VA Health Care System facilities.
The article quotes MRFF Founder and President Mike Weinstein (emphasis added):
"We've been fighting these Christian materials on POW/MIA tables for many years," Weinstein said. "Many military installations, many VA installations, have gone to federal court about it. That thing sticks out like a tarantula on a wedding cake. It was never part of the original history of the table when it was first started in any way, shape, or form."
It also quotes MRFF Senior Research Director Chris Rodda:
"VA regulations prohibit having any permanent religious display of only one religion," she said. "Even the chapels in VA facilities have to be religiously neutral, unless an actual service for a particular religion is going on."
"They insist on having a Bible, and they buy into this myth promoted by fake historians like David Barton that America was founded as a Christian nation, and they're trying to reclaim it as a Christian nation or whatever, when that's not the case at all," she insisted.

Christo-Fascism in the Military

And let’s look at what we’re funding with all that more military spending! Remember we discussed rank extremism in the ranks just one day ago? Well, just hours later, the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF) reported that an unnamed military commander displayed a picture of MRFF founder Mikey Weinstein to his unit, calling Weinstein, who is Jewish, an “anti-Christian terrorist.”
The commander – whose unit and branch were not identified – allegedly did this “at a large U.S. military installation.” Which narrows it down to Earth.
The commander was cheesed off that the MRFF (including Christian members of his own unit) succeeded in forcing him to tone down his Jesus proselytizing at the never-mentioned-in-the-Bible Christmas party. So he told his unit to lobby for anti-MRFF legislation. Specifically, Rep. Mike Turner (R-OH) is pushing legislation to rob U.S. troops of the right to communicate with the MRFF.
Turner’s trying to attach his amendment to the ostensibly-must-pass National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which he’s got a good shot at in the House under Christian nationalist Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA).
If Democrats cave and let Turner’s amendment stick around on the Senate version, too, in the name of Pentagon funding, allocating money for our defense might well mean caving to the greatest threat we’re actually facing.

TYT:
I just read today’s newsletter (see "Christo-Fascism in the Military" story below) concerning Mikey Weinstein and the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF). I have been following them for about 10 years and their wonderful service they provide service members of all, and sometimes no, religions. I began supporting MRFF because of what I went through over 55 years ago as a newly-enlisted in the US Air Force. I was assigned by my sergeant to clean the office bathrooms while also being told I would not have this duty again if I just agreed to attend his church. Did I forget to mention he told me that because I am Jewish? And while I decide to agree to his request I should stick my hand into the commode to “spit-shine” it. To get away from this Christian fascist I volunteered for Vietnam. All these years since I consider it one of my best decisions.
Mikey Weinstein is an honorable man whose family has also suffered under these Christian fascists. In the decades since my service this fascism has become even more fanatical and organized against not only enlisted personnel but I’ve heard it also affects the officer ranks. This means it is very detrimental to good order and discipline in all military services.
If you can, please continue to support MRFF’s vital help to their clients who number over 90% as actual Christians. It serves a great service.
