MRFF’S MIKEY WEINSTEIN INTERVIEWED

FOR THE GOOD MEN PROJECT: “COMMAND PRESSURE, CHRISTIAN NATIONALISM,

AND AI-DRIVEN MILITARIZATION”

“When you start viewing the military as a praetorian guard meant to serve Caesar rather than the Constitution, something fundamental has gone wrong.”

Mikey Weinstein Warns of Command Pressure, Christian Nationalism,

and AI-Driven Militarization

By: Scott Douglas Jacobsen

Sunday, March 1, 2026

From interview introduction (emphasis added):

Michael L. “Mikey” Weinstein is an undisputed leader of the national movement to restore the obliterated wall separating church and state in the most technologically lethal organization ever created by humankind: the United States armed forces. Described by Harper’s magazine as “the constitutional conscience of the U.S. military, a man determined to force accountability ...”

Weinstein said service members reported superiors “strongly encouraging” attendance at politically charged documentary screenings, sometimes demanding proof, while the Pentagon denied any directive. He argued that even soft command pressure erodes constitutional nonpartisanship and can endanger careers. Turning to AI, drones, and autonomous systems, he warned that ideological capture would be “encoded” into design, amplifying supremacy at machine speed. He likened Christian nationalism in the force to a metastatic threat to democratic governance. His remedy: resist, document, and litigate.

MRFF’s warnings about the military’s AI being trained by Christian nationalists began even before our current hyper-Christianized regime ascended to power

Hegseth promotes Christian America at Pentagon and NRB

By: Steve Rabey

Thursday, February 26, 2026

As part of this excellent article, Baptist News Global cites a February 14 article from Military.com on the stream of complaints from MRFF military and defense contractor clients about Hegseth’s duty day Pentagon Christian nationalist worship services. From the article:

The Military Religious Freedom Foundation said it had received dozens of complaints about the Pentagon services from members. The group was founded by Air Force veteran Mikey Weinstein and has criticized evangelicals’ efforts to Christianize the military since raising complaints about indoctrination at the U.S. Air Force Academy decades ago.

News outlet Military.com said it had heard complaints from service members and military contractors who fear failing to go along with Hegseth’s religious activities will cost them.

“You don’t actually need evidence of retribution to find fault with the leader of a government agency inviting his employees for a prayer service. It’s inherently discriminatory,” said one contractor.

“It provides an opportunity for Christians to get face time and be in the room with higher-ups, perhaps interacting on a social level. Jews, Muslims and other non-Christians are not provided this opportunity,” they added.

Did Color Guard Appearance at National Religious Conference Break Protocol?

By: Nick Mordowanec

Sunday, February 22, 2026

Violating long-standing DoD and Army regulations on military participation in religious events, the 101st Airborne Division ceremonial color guard and 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) Band opened the National Religious Broadcasters Freedom 250 Celebration, at which the keynote speaker, none other that Christian nationalist extremist Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, vowed:

As long as I have breath, I commit to you that I and we should NEVER allow any group—no matter how large or small—to silence us from speaking the capital T TRUTH: Christ is King.

Dear Mikey Weinstein and MRFF,

I’m writing with the dual purpose of thanking you and encouraging VA employees to reach out to you.

In my many years as a primary care provider at the VA I was privileged to care for many different kinds of people, from all religious and political persuasions, people of all different races, backgrounds, genders, ages, shapes, you name it. All have served our country in one way or another, and all were welcomed and treated equally. It was heartening to work in a health care environment where the only criteria for care were need and veteran status, and the team was devoted to veteran health and well-being.

Sadly, things are changing at the VA, reflecting the changing leadership at the national level. The white Christian nationalist agenda has infiltrated even the medical care system, creating an environment where many veterans no longer feel seen or safe, and staff fear for their jobs. Only one example is when we were told in 2025 to be on the lookout for “anti-Christian bias” in the workplace, and to report our colleagues up the chain. Sowing mistrust and fear among staff is bad enough, but worse is the way the shifting federal paradigm essentially erases or defames many veterans, making them feel invisible or worthless. This makes me angry and sad. All of our veterans have served, and all deserve to be protected and cared for.

Thankfully, MRFF is fighting hard for veterans, of course active-duty military, and also for VA staff. I am not a veteran myself, but I have been a client of MRFF four times. Several years ago, when my local facility put up a Christian display at Easter, I contacted Mikey who reached out to our leadership and the display was gone within 24 hours. Twice I called MRFF when I found Christian literature on VA property. MRFF also heard my complaint that our Patriot Store carries only Christian books. That is a tougher nut to crack, since it involves Patriot Stores in VA’s across the country, but MRFF has taken on that legal battle with characteristic vigor.

Mikey, you and your staff are 100% committed to the Constitution. You work with speed and skill to right the wrongs when the separation of church and state is threatened or violated. You are also fiercely protective of your clients’ privacy, which was vital to me as a government employee.

I want to thank you for all the crucial work that you are doing for our military, our veterans, and our government employees. And to you VA staff members out there – if you witness or experience a violation of freedom of religion or the separation of church and state, remember that is unconstitutional, and reach out to MRFF for help.

In gratitude,

Recently retired VA PCP

“Melania movie”

Subject: Melania movie

Dear M.R.F.F.

Since I am a Catholic and veteran in the army, was very disappointed and upset that the military in the USA and over-sea’s are requested to show the movie “Melania”. The units are requested as a UAE (Unit Activity Event) to see the movie. If they refuse they are put on a list as non-conforming to an activity.

I happen to read the reviews in “The Week”, and it was considered a flop. The movie was all about Melania and how she enjoys such a lavish life-style. I do not see how this movie would reflect on the lives of the military? In my option they are not role-models by any standards. Perhaps the message is to promote Trumpism?

Can you tell me how the “Military Religious Freedom Foundation” is involved with this movie? The article mentioned the foundation?

All the best.
