April 22  On our Night of Remembrance

We participated in the Temple's Friday Night services by honoring Martin Bloch, a survivor of the Shoah and Joe Levine, and Alan Broadwin of MRJ singing with the Temple Choir.

April 12  Exploring Passover Traditions

A small intimate group joined Rabbi Blake and Rabbi Reiser over zoom to explore  how the Seder has changed over the years and how this freedom to change has kept it relevant for Jewish families over the ages.  Using selected texts they brought us an enhanced appreciation of the way the haggadah guides us to discuss and question our history and our present day circumstances.   The session was recorded so anyone who missed the live session just needs to contact [email protected]  to request the video.

April 3 We Volunteered to Save Lives

This year for the first time, we partnered with Temple Kol Ami for our Blood Drive.  The CJL was set up to allow for Whole Blood and Double Red Blood Cell donations.  Our goal was 38 pints of blood. We achieved 43 pints of blood with the help of participants from KOL AMI and other local synagoues.

In addition Sharon Steifel was able to set up a site for swabbing for the Bone Marrow Registry for those people who wanted to volunteer for the Be The Match program.

Thank you to all the volunteers who participated!  Roy Polayes, Lee Goldsmith, Eugene Weisman, Mark Lewis, Mike Grant, Fran Scheffler, Lori & Brett Bernstein &  Gil Fishman.

Behind the scenes, the MRJ has a hard working Chair of the Westchester Jewish Baskeball League, Gil Fishman. He has been organizing and running this program which the MRJ sponsors over many years.  This year, despite a late start because of Covid, the participants had a great season.

Thank you to the dedicated coaches who give of their time and expertise.
