May 2026 - 2nd edition

June 5: A magical night

We've got a great show coming up:

Your favorite Broadway tunes sung by talented performers.

But who are they? Our own Connie Conway, herself an experienced singer who has sung with Broadway stars and at the Kennedy Center, is bringing friends from around the country to put on this fundraiser for MRW. Find out all about them here.

Some tickets are still available. Come hear your favorite tunes from Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, Annie, Showboat, King and I, Sweeney Todd and so many more.

Friday, June 5

7:00 pm

Pinehurst Village Hall

If you haven't already done so, get your tickets today - and bring your friends and family. You can pay by check or credit card.

May 6 luncheon highlights

Sandy Moyer, chairwoman of the Republican National Hispanic Assembly of North Carolina, spoke at our luncheon about why so many Latinos have a natural home in the Republican Party. Faith, family and freedom are important values they hold. She suggested ways we can bring the Republican message to the Hispanic community - and it is done most effectively by other Hispanics.

Key message: Immigration laws protect all immigrants (legal and illegal) from human trafficking, forced cartel payments, crime and more. And Republicans share many of their same values.

Her organization focuses on reaching the Hispanic community through door-knocking and other methods. If you'd like to find out more and donate to this important effort, visit rnhanc.org.

MRW member Connie Conway sang a beautiful version of the National Anthem. You can hear her again - along with her talented musical friends - at the Broadway Concert fundraiser for MRW on June 5. Get tickets now! (see article above)

At our luncheon, we were so happy to see Emily Carson, who joined MRW when she was 16 years old, went to college (with a small scholarship from MRW), and is now back in Moore County. She's working while she gets her masters degree. It's always great to see young Republicans succeed!

We collected a large selection of goodies to send to deployed troops in conjunction with Military Missions in Action. Thanks for your generosity!

MRW members approve revised bylaws

At the May 6 luncheon, revised bylaws for Moore Republican Women were presented and approved. The updated bylaws are posted on our website, and you can read them here.

MRW introduces Charlie Kirk Memorial membership

In honor of the great Charlie Kirk, Moore Republican Women has announced a new category of membership in our Club, designed to encourage young folks to participate. The membership includes all of our benefits, but is only $25 per year for anyone who is 33 years old or younger. That's the age Charlie was when he was martyred.

If you know anyone who would be interested in this new membership, please have them contact our Membership Chair, Pauline Bruno or 860-917-8001.

Letter to the Editor published

On May 5, The Pilot newspaper printed a Letter to the Editor by Pilar Page, MRW President. Because many don't subscribe to liberal Pilot, we have created this pdf so you can read it.

In addition, the full letter was recently published in the North State Journal (Moore County edition, May 7, 2026).

The letter was in support of President Trump's agenda and actions. We encourage ALL our members to push back on liberal narratives and write letters and opinion pieces, not just to conservative outlets. We are done being told what we can think and say!

Maureen Zumwalt appointed Federal judge

We are so proud of our former MRW President, Maureen Zumwalt, who was recently named a Federal judge in Texas, where she moved several years ago. We always knew she would go far!

Maureen says, "Texas has treated us very well." Her husband John Zumwalt serves as the Chair of Kleberg County GOP (an elected position). Maureen shares the following: "I am so proud to have been part of MRW. I adore this group of women so much. And, as I have met other Republican Women's clubs since moving, I can unequivocally say that MRW is the finest and sets a standard that no other club can meet."

We agree! Pray for Maureen in her new position, and congratulations again!

RIP: Irene Sauter

Long-time MRW member Irene Sauter passed away on May 2 at the age of 93. Irene was born in Germany and escaped the Nazi terror, coming to the U.S. during the war. You can read her obituary here. Per her wishes, no memorial service is planned. But we will always remember Irene as a faithful MRW member, a staunch Republican and a proud American, who delighted all with her humor and stories.

Moore County GOP communications

Our own Kay Wildt is now the Chair of Communications for the Moore County GOP, and she sends out a newsletter to Republicans throughout the county on a regular basis. It has different information from what we send from MRW.

If you'd like to be put on the MC GOP mailing list, contact Kay here.

[Per our bylaws, we do not share your contact information with anyone, so you need to contact Kay yourself.]
