July 2025

Happy Independence Day 2025! May God bless America!

Letter from the President by Charli Thyne

What does it take to win the Nobel Peace Prize?

The Abraham Accords. The India-Pakistan war. The war between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda. And now, the war between Israel and Iran. All resolved peacefully by the courage and determination of one man: Donald J. Trump.

Most recently, President Trump ordered precision strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. This bold step was greeted with alarm and panic by Democrats and some Republicans, who feared the start of World War III. But that didn’t happen. In fact, by disrupting Iran’s nuclear programs, President Trump reinforced our commitment to peace through strength.

Today, our allies in Israel and the Gulf can breathe a sigh of relief, knowing America has taken care of the regional threat. President Trump’s actions also put Russia, North Korea and others on notice that the United States will not abide nuclear proliferation by rogue nations.

As Republican women, we understand the value of strength and resolve in defending liberty. This decisive action is a reminder that when America leads with clarity and courage, the world is safer – and peace can be achieved. Thank you, President Trump!

Charli

Online petition about book reports

Show your support for mandatory book reports in the Moore County schools! We invite you to sign a petition created by the Moore County GOP.

Background: Mandatory hand-written book reports were instituted in 2023 by our conservative Board of Education. However, the Board (with two more liberals who were elected in November 2025) voted on June 9 to make the book report requirement the decision of each individual teacher, not a system-wide requirement. The vote was passed by a majority of Democrat members with the help of one of our Republican board members. This was despite the numerous pleas from parents and community members to keep the requirement, which was designed to solidify reading comprehension and writing skills.

Thom Tillis is OUT in 2026!

Senator Thom Tillis has been a thorn in the side of conservatives for many years. But his bucking of the Trump agenda this year has led to much angst. On Sunday, June 29, after saying "no" to the Big Beautiful Bill and drawing the ire of President Trump and a strong threat to primary him, Tillis made a big decision:

He will not run for re-election in 2026.

He said: “As many of my colleagues have noticed over the last year, and at times even joked about, I haven’t exactly been excited about running for another term. That is true since the choice is between spending another six years navigating the political theatre and partisan gridlock in Washington or spending that time with the love of my life Susan, our two children, three beautiful grandchildren, and the rest of our extended family back home. It’s not a hard choice, and I will not be seeking re-election.”

One issue down. Now comes the hard work of choosing someone to run in his place in a tough election next year. Here are a few of the people whose names have come up already. MRW will be there to introduce you to the various candidates running in the primary.

Pinehurst July 4th Parade

10:00 a.m.

This is a "walker only" parade hosted by the Village of Pinehurst. We need walkers to show the patriotic spirit of the Moore County GOP! We will be distributing candy to the children whose parents agree to let them have it.

The Pinehurst Parade check-in begins at 9:30 a.m. and Parade begins at 9:50 a.m. sharp. There is also a "Pet Parade" prior to the main parade; it starts at 9:45 a.m.

-------------------------

Carthage July 4th Parade

11:00 a.m.

This one will feature the Moore County GOP float with an "Outer Space" theme (Miriam Chu is at her best yet again!). We have requested a line assignment near the end of the Parade so that some of the Pinehurst "walkers" can join the second parade - or just enjoy our float as bystanders.

The Parade line up begins at 10:00 a.m. All parade participants must check-in at the Corner of Pete Kelly Road and Monroe Street.

Carthage will be the larger event so get there early if you can to park and join the festivities on the Float.

If you're interested in joining MCGOP to participate in the Float, we will send you a notice of our line assignment position as soon as we receive confirmation. email: annettem25@sbcglobal.net

Hope to see you there!
