June 2025

Letter from the President by Charli Thyne

Dear Patriots:

Over the course of the past 20+ years, we conservatives have watched with dismay the Left's corruption of our culture and institutions. For so long, we laughed in disbelief at the latest madness, only to discover it was now considered "mainstream." I know I'm not alone in thinking we would never be able to reverse these trends in our lifetimes.

But then - Trump.

Urgent alert: Action on School Board

Time to roll up your sleeves and get involved!

Pauline Bruno, Moore County School Board, needs the help of all MRW members! She says:

Members of our School Board want to eliminate our mandatory book reports. It is extremely important that we keep this policy, because 40% of Moore County students cannot read at their grade levels. We're talking about over 5,000 students!

What can you do?

Please attend and speak at the School Board meeting:

Monday, June 9

Central Office (5277 Hwy. 15-501 South, Carthage, NC28327)

5:30 PM.

If you can't attend, write letters to the address above, call or send emails to the BOE (go here for their contact information.) Do anything you can to stop this step backward in our children's learning.

Save our children.

Feds file lawsuit over alleged inaccurate NC voter list

According to the Carolina Journal:

  • The US Justice Department has filed a federal lawsuit against North Carolina and the State Board of Elections over alleged inaccuracies in the state's voter list.
  • The lawsuit specifically targets a voter registration form that did not require prospective voters to provide a driver's license number or last four digits of a Social Security number.
  • State and national Republican Party groups raised the same issue in an August 2024 lawsuit. Republican state Supreme Court candidate Jefferson Griffin referenced the same issue during his six-month legal battle over the 2024 election.

It took the Trump DOJ to finally do something about voter rolls. North Carolina is the first of what will most likely be multiple such lawsuits against other states. Note that these inaccuracies occurred when the NC State Board of Elections was under Democrat leadership. Now that the Republicans are in charge, maybe these issues will get fixed!

June 11 Luncheon reminder

You can still RSVP through Monday, June 2 at noon!

RSVP quickly to make sure you have a seat while we welcome A.P. Dillon, well-known award-winning conservative reporter. She is in big demand and has some interesting info to share!

MENU UPDATE: Our Club Salad Trio will now consist of chicken, egg and TUNA salad (rather than ham).

The deadline to RSVP is Monday, June 2 at noon.

Note: When paying for your lunch, we'd appreciate CHECKS (made payable to MRW) rather than cash if possible.

We are collecting snacks for veterans at the Sandhill Community College Veterans Dayroom.

And we still need one volunteer to help sell our baskets at the luncheon. Please contact Pilar Page if you're willing and able.

MRW honors the fallen at Memorial Day Ceremony

As we do every year, Moore Republican Women joined other patriots to commemorate soldiers who gave their all for our country. The ceremony took place at the Sandhills Veterans Cemetery on May 24, and Sandi Carl and Lisa Sheridan of MRW were there to present our floral tribute.

Bingo Night on August 18

Save the date for the next Bingo Night!

Everyone loved the St. Patrick's Day event so much that they requested a replay - so we're doing a "summer" version on August 18. Stay tuned for more information.

Adopt-a-Highway trash pick-up on June 25

MRW cares about the environment, especially OUR environment! Come help us clean up the trash around Airport Road on Wednesday June 25.

We meet at the Harris Teeter in Whispering Pines at noon (in the parking lot nearest the gas station). Bring a picker-upper and gloves; we will provide vests and trash bags. The clean-up should take about an hour. For more information, contact Charli Thyne.

The more, the merrier - hope to see you there!

June luncheon featured nationally-renowned speaker

Our speaker was Cleta Mitchell, renowned election integrity attorney and activist. She began by telling the fascinating story of her career and things her mother taught her.

She recommended we visit her organization, electionintegritynetwork.org, for useful information about solutions that are needed to clean up our elections.

"We have a lot of work to do, and we have to help President Trump," she said.

Finally, she congratulated MRW for the job we're doing and our belief that by working together, we can impact the future of our country.

Collecting for kids

Many thanks to all who brought in bedding to be donated to Sleep in Heavenly Peace. This organization is a Moore County charity dedicated to ensuring that "no kid sleeps on the floor in our town." Go here to find out what the group is doing in Moore County.

Fundraising results at luncheon

We always appreciate everyone who "shops" at our luncheons to help us raise funds. Here's what we raised at the May luncheon:

  • Basket Raffle - $160. The gorgeous basket created by Pauline Bruno was won by Diane Ingold.
  • Split the Pot - $230. Marge Swierz won $115. Thanks to Sandi Carl for selling tickets.
  • Jewelry Sales - $144. Wear your right-wing bling to the June luncheon!
