Broadway Concert is a hit! | | |
"We spent $35 per ticket to see a $1,000 show!" That's what people were saying at the close of the Broadway Concert on June 5. Seven incredible performers engaged an audience of about 150 people for a musical extravaganza of fun and entertainment in Pinehurst. The first inaugural Broadway Concert fundraiser for Moore Republican Women was a huge success.
Many thanks to Connie Conway, MRW member, who proposed doing this fundraiser, then organized, directed and sang in it. Connie, we love you! We also love MRW member Laura Morgan and all the other performers, who enjoyed standing ovations from the happy crowd of attendees.
| | Beautiful Connie Conway not only produced and directed the show - she is also the voice teacher for several of the performers. And we all love to hear her sing! | | | Cheryl Crandall Hernandez flew in from California to lend her talent. Cheryl has had a long career touring with stars like Perry Como, singing for US Presidents and performing in Broadway productions around the country. | | | Gorgeous Laura Morgan, MRW member and former Mrs. Senior America, wowed the audience with the Star Spangled Banner and her touching rendition of "Send in the Clowns." | | | Little Miss Jackie, the 8-year old songbird, brought down the house with her powerful voice and delightful charm. | | | Will Britt amazed listeners with his deep baritone voice and dramatic presence. Will also happens to be Laura Morgan's talented son! | | | Collin Conway, gifted baritone and step-son of Connie, was a big hit and showed why he has starred in many local musical productions. | | | |
Ed Martel was amazing at the keyboard. Mr. Martel, who now lives in Pinehurst, had a 40-year career in Los Angeles as music director, conductor, arranger, orchestrator and pianist for many shows, concerts, television programs, movies, recording projects and theatrical productions. We were so lucky to hear his artistry! You can hear him every other Sunday at the Community Presbyterian Church.

A special note:
Please continue to keep Miriam and Willy Chu in your prayers. They were in a serious car accident on their way to our Broadway Concert on June 5 and were taken to UNC Hospital for treatment. Both are in stable condition and are on the road to recovery.
Miriam is the Vice-Chair of the Moore County GOP and a long-time member of MRW. Her husband Willy is an MRW Associate and a staunch supporter and important worker for the GOP.
| | Next big event: July 4th parades | | |
The big America250 celebration is close at hand - and MRW will be joining the Moore County GOP at two different parades on Saturday, July 4:
Pinehurst, 10:00 a.m. - WALKERS WANTED!
We want YOU and your spouse, children, grandchildren and neighbors to walk in our section of the parade. We'll be handing out flags to children along the route - show our patriotic spirit by participating! It's not a long walk. Put it on your calendar!
The Pinehurst parade does not allow floats - but it does allow decorated cars or trucks. If you'd like to decorate your car or truck and drive it in our section of the parade, contact Pilar Page. We have decorations you can use.
Carthage, 11:00 a.m. - WALK HERE, TOO!
Here's an idea: Walk in the Pinehurst parade, then carpool up to Carthage immediately afterward to walk along with our float!
More information about both these parades will be forthcoming as we get closer to July 4th - but please plan to participate. We need a BIG presence for the America250 celebration!
| | Highlights from June 3 luncheon | | |
At our June 3 luncheon, we celebrated FREEDOM in anticipation of the wonderful celebrations of America250 coming up next month.
To help us mark the occasion, we welcomed Immanuel Jarvis, President of the Frederick Douglass Foundation of NC, who told us about Douglass' remarkable career - and his amazing wife, Anna Murray Douglass, who made it all possible. He also talked about his book, "What does God think about Republicans?" and shared the importance of asking God what He thinks rather than blindly following political policies.
The Frederick Douglass Foundation of NC is celebrating Juneteenth on Saturday, June 20. Mr. Jarvis says this is a REPUBLICAN holiday that has been hijacked by the liberals, and we should be celebrating it! For more information about the event put together by the Foundation, go here.

Our June collection was for the Life Care Pregnancy Center in Carthage. As always, MRW members are so generous! Here is the thank-you note from the LCPC:
Thank you and the Moore County Republican Women's Club for your generous donation of baby items, including diapers, wipes, clothing, gift cards, and monetary contributions. Your kindness and support are truly appreciated.
The total donations received included $125 in verified gift card amounts, one additional gift card that was donated without a receipt so we are unable to verify its value at this time, and $305 in cash and checks.
Please extend our deepest gratitude to all the members of the Moore County Republican Women's Club. We are so thankful for your generosity and commitment to supporting the women, children, and families we serve. Your contributions make a meaningful difference and help us continue providing essential resources and encouragement to those in our community.
Thank you again for your partnership and support of Life Care Pregnancy Center.
With gratitude,
Becky Foreman, Executive Director

REMINDER:
We do not have a luncheon scheduled for July.
Our next meeting will be Wednesday, August 12 - and it will be a brunch, starting at 10:30 a.m. Our invitation for this will go out toward the end of July. Plan on bringing a Republican friend or neighbor!
| | Dan Bishop named a top Federal prosecutor in NC | | |
Former Rep. Dan Bishop is one of our favorite people, so we're glad to report that he and Ellis Boyle have been confirmed by the U.S. Senate as U.S. Attorneys. They will lead the prosecutors' offices in the Middle and Eastern Districts of North Carolina, respectively.
This is great news! For more information, go here.
