Working together to win together

I admit, it's fun to watch the Democrat party struggle to either assimilate or deny its far-left wing candidates (the Democratic Socialists of America), who are creating havoc in the party as we approach the midterm elections. Pass the popcorn!

Unity is so important when it comes to winning. We can delight in the Democrats' dilemma - but mustn't fall into the same trap ourselves.

Sometimes good people can disagree about the best way to accomplish our goals. While healthy debate can make us stronger, division weakens our ability to accomplish the things we all care about. This is true not only nationally, but on a local level.

The good thing is, we Republicans are united in what we believe in:


• Individual freedom
• Limited government
• Equal rights, equal justice and equal opportunity for all
• Fiscal responsibility
• Strong families
• Safe communities
• Excellent schools

And we're united in our determination to stand against the forces of hatred and violence, as we remember the attacks on the Twin Towers and the assassination of Charlie Kirk, both of which we commemorate this week.

As the November election approaches, let's remember we don't have to agree on everything to work together. We need to keep our attention on what matters: electing Republicans and advancing the principles we share.

We are on the same team - and united, we are stronger.

As we enter into the holy Jewish season of Rosh HaShana and Yom Kippur, it behooves all of us to examine our lives, confess our sins and get our lives right with God and each other.

His Word promises if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Lord, as we approach the 25th anniversary of 9/11, we pray for Your continued blessing on the survivors, families and friends of those lost in that tragic attack. Keep it as a reminder of the evil of Islam, which is trying to take over this country.

And Father, please bless Erika Kirk and her family as we approach the one year anniversary of Charlie’s murder and martyrdom.  

Help us as a nation to turn back to you.

Reminder: We're collecting school supplies for The Academy of Moore County. You can see the list of most-needed supplies on the same page where the "Reserve my seat" button takes you (scroll down).

Guest what - the election is HERE! Absentee ballots will start being sent out on September 4, and people can begin voting as soon as they receive theirs. So here are things you can do NOW:

1. Address envelopes for mailing to go to people who have moved into Moore County in the past year, urging them to vote Republican. Meet on Thursday after Think Tank (except the third Thursday, which is the Men's Club lunch) at GOP HQ. You can take packets home if you prefer.
   
2. Help out at Moore County GOP's tent at the Pinehurst BBQ Festival on September 6. Promote GOP and register people to vote. See details here, and email Annette Miller at annettem25@sbcglobal.net.
   
3. Join the GOTV outreach program. Knock on doors or make phone calls to low-propensity Republican voters. It's not hard! Training available Mondays at 5:00 pm or after Think Tank on Thursdays (GOP HQ). Call Eric Cantrell for more information or assistance - 336-501-8836.
   
4. Like and share GOP communications promoting Michael Whatley (or any other Republican candidate) on social media.
   
5. Support candidates with donations.
   
6. Volunteer to be a poll watcher. In-person training on Saturday, Sept. 12, 10-11:30 a.m., GOP Headquarters. Contact Agnes Puzak at 203-558-0361 or puzak@sbcglobal.net
   
7. Plant candidate signs in your yard. It is legal to do so, as long as they'e on your property. Signs are available at the GOP HQ.

And don't forget: The RNC Midterm National Convention is September 9-10 in Dallas. It's going to be a blast and will help get everyone psyched to vote Republican - so be sure to watch!

The following three proposed Constitutional Amendments for North Carolina were sponsored and passed by our Republican-controlled legislature and will be voted on in the November election - another reason why Republican majorities are important:

1. Constitutional Amendment to require all voters, not just those presenting to vote in person, to present photo identification before voting.
   
2. Constitutional Amendment to keep the State income tax rate from being raised higher than 3.5%.
   
3. Constitutional Amendment requiring limits on property tax increases by local governments.

On September 3 at 5:30 pm in the GOP HQ, MRW is hosting a reception for new members. This "Meet & Greet" features light refreshments and an orientation by leaders of MRW.
