Middle School Meeting
Dear Middle School Families,

Here is today's MS Meeting Recap. You can watch the video above and check out the slides here.

Ms. Smith and I loved seeing the virtual premiere of Annie, the musical, last night! Big cheers to the cast and crew! If you missed the performance of Annie, don’t worry! The video will be On-Demand from Friday, March 12 to Sunday, March 28. Follow the instructions here and see the program as well as a note from the director.

We were thrilled to have Kayla Toussaint '25 run today’s meeting.
BVR Student
Max Levy '25 talked about an element of the BVR StudentValues Mistakes and Takes Responsibility for Actions. Max said:

“An example of this is getting a problem wrong in math. After getting the problem wrong the teacher would correct you and tell you what you need to do next. I chose this one because it’s important that instead of seeing a mistake as a challenge see it as an opportunity to do even better next time. Mistakes are a big part of learning and once you can move past making them you can do anything.”
Meeting Notes
Ms. Wildes presented the Hiatt Summer Fellowship program. The program grants Beaver students, grades 6 through 11, the financial support to explore and participate in meaningful leadership and civic engagement work with non-profit organizations over the summer. In her presentation, she shared popular opportunities in which BVR students have participated in the past. Students are encouraged to make an appointment with the Hiatt Center after spring break by emailing hiatt@bcdschool.org to talk about their options. You can also hear from students who participated last summer here.
We thanked the students who volunteered to be part of small group conversations this morning with Middle School faculty to explore what makes a community thrive and about equity in education.

  • 7th grade: Henry Diver, Sadie Wylie, Arlinda Leka
  • 8th grade: Charlotte Lacey and Emma Thiebault
Student Council sponsored this week's Spirit Week, click here for some highlights.
Ms. Smith announced that starting April 9, we will be adding Fridays to our on-campus rotation! Families will receive more information over break including the rotation schedule. (The Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday rotation will remain the same).
I reminded the Middle School all students will have COVID testing here on campus the week we get back from spring break.
We will be outside more after spring break! This will include music classes for brass, woodwind, and chorus. Students should dress for the weather.

Feed Your Brain: Book Buffet
Gabe Cohen '25 recommends The Mamba Mentality: How I Play, by Kobe Bryant

"I liked this book because it has a lot of valuable life lessons, and it’s really cool to see what a person like Kobe Bryant thinks like.

I think others would like it because it’s a really enjoyable read even if you aren’t the biggest sports or basketball fan, and it isn’t very long. Even though it’s not long, it’s a really good book."
