A WEEK FULL OF PURIM FUN!

Watch the fun

PURIM CHAGIGAH

The 7th and 8th grade girls celebrated a joyous Chagiga in honor of Purim with "IMove with Naz." It was a beautiful event that showcased unity and happiness among the students. Adorned in colorful costumes and beaming smiles, the girls came together to dance, sing, and truly embrace the spirit of Purim. The Chagiga was a testament to the power of community and the joy of coming together, especially during these challenging times for the Jewish people.

A DAY OF TEFILA

On Wednesday, March 20, we had the opportunity to participate in a worldwide Tefila program. This program was coordinated by Torah Umesorah. It began with words of introduction by Rabbi Bender, Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshiva Darchei Torah. Rabbi Bender spoke about the importance of focusing on helping others and looking out for others. After Rabbi Bender’s inspirational opening, several Perakim of Tehillim were recited.

WORLDWIDE SHEMA

On Thursday, the middle school had the opportunity to join with thousands worldwide to say Shema in unison. It was extremely powerful. Before that, Aish Hatorah who coordinated the program, had several speakers. Rav Itiel Goldvicht began and framed the program. Next, we heard from the families of two of the hostages who spoke from their hearts. We also heard from Arky who is a soldier who has been putting out videos relating to the situation in Israel. We also heard from Shai Graucher who has been one of the leaders raising funds and awareness and doing everything he can to bring joy to the families who are suffering in Israel. Finally, we heard from the family of Hersh Goldberg Polin. The theme of the program was one people with one voice and one G-d.

7TH GRADE GIRLS SHUSHAN PURIM

The 7th grade girls had an enjoyable Shushan Purim. They were divided into small groups for some fun interactive Purim-themed activities. They played a Purim Kahoot game and had fun working as a team. They created Purim-themed "headbands/labels" and sat in a circle with their groups trying to guess which character or item they were. "Name that tune" was a blast and a challenge as groups were given only 7 seconds to hear a bit of a song and try to figure it out. The winning group was able to correctly figure out 18 out of the 20 tunes. We also enjoyed making some delicious Hamentaschen. It was a fun way to end the Purim experience and get to know our classmates even better.

8TH GRADE GIRLS LEAD PURIM

CARNIVAL AT ECC

The 8th grade girls eagerly embarked on their journey to the ECC, where a vibrant Purim carnival awaited. Excitement buzzed in the air as they donned colorful costumes, their laughter echoing through the halls. The girls transformed the space into many activities, adorning booths with glittering decorations and setting up games and treats for the younger children. As they reveled in the spirit of Purim, these girls showcased the power of unity and fun across generations.

HANC DEBATE TEAM

On Wednesday, March 26th, HANC hosted and competed in their third debate of the year. Schools that attended were HAFTR, HALB, and HANC. The resolution was that all forms of smoking and vaping should be banned.

We are proud to announce Maya Nof received first place speaker, Dovi Lemel second place speaker, and Esther Friedman third place speaker. Additionally, Maya Nof and Lexi Rosner came in first place team. We are extremely excited that HANC came in first place overall school. We look forward to the last debate of the year in

May at HAFTR.

PURIM MUSICAL CHAIRS

On Shushan Purim, we had a fantastic game of musical chairs by grade and gender. With the music pumping (thank you Rabbi Dworetsky), we had a ton of fun. Congratulations to the winners: Avi Herskovits, Yitzi Brill, Aria Abramov, and Abigail Yakubova.

TORAH BOWL

On Tuesday, March 19th, the amazing girls' Torah Bowl team traveled to Great Neck for our 4th and last meet of the year. It was the playoff competition and the girls independently reviewed so well for it. We are so proud of our girls for coming in 2nd place in the league. They surpassed HALB, HAFTR, North Shore, and Silverstein! They then had to play against Shulamith. It was a tight game and we did not win. It was a great experience nonetheless and it was a great year mastering Sefer Shemot. We are so proud of all the effort and dedication Becca, Baila, Lielle, Yael, Rachelie, and Agam put in all year long. We look forward to next year as we work through Sefer Bamidbar.

The HANC Middle School boys' Torah Bowl team has just concluded another wonderful season. Unfortunately, this year, the boys did not repeat as champions, however, the boys did finish 2nd overall in the league. All of the boys learned the entire sefer of Shemot with Perush Rashi, and this is quite a remarkable accomplishment. We would like to thank 8th graders, Yonah Lalehzari, Yitzchak Engelsohn, Kaleb Lerner, Yehuda Weissman, and Elisha Bronstein for their leadership and time spent on the team. We wish them the best of luck in high school Torah Bowl! Our 7th graders are eagerly awaiting next year's Torah Bowl season, as they will get an opportunity to continue to learn Torah in-depth, and will hopefully be able to win the school another Torah Bowl Championship!

SPORTS UPDATE

Congratulations to the Boys' Hockey team and Rabbi Coach Harris on a terrific season! The Hurricanes will look to build on this season that saw them reach the semi-finals as they head into next year where they will try to regain the league championship crown.
