Hello Colt Families,

The Middle School had the pleasure of hosting the incoming 6th graders to our building last week for "Move-Up Day". It was truly a pleasure to welcome the Class of 2028 and to see the excitement in the students' faces.

CVMS has once again earned the designation of being named a "No Place For Hate" School for the 6th year in a row. In order to receive this designation, schools must have all students sign the "Resolution of Respect" and participate in two school-wide activities. We are honored to carry this designation once again and will continue to promote the message each and every day.

Fall sports sign-ups are currently open for incoming 7th and 8th graders. Please use the following links to sign up to be part of a Chartiers Valley MS Athletic Program. Signups will be open until June 1, 2021. Anyone wishing to sign up after that date should contact Assistant Athletic Director, Shay Muraco ([email protected]) for sign up. 

Along with this sign-up, all student-athletes are required to have a PIAA physical (dated after June 1, 2021) as well as be registered for their fall sport on the CVSD Athletics Registration website. Details about that process will follow once signups are complete.

We want to take the opportunity to cordially invite all 8th-grade students and families to our 8th Grade Recognition Ceremony on Thursday, May 20, 2021.  During the ceremony, which will be held at the stadium, all 8th-grade students will be recognized as they make the transition from Middle School to High School.  Please consider joining us for this special evening of celebrating the Class of 2025.  Students are to report at 6:30 p.m. to the Visitor's bleachers.  (Families can proceed to the Home bleachers.) The Recognition Ceremony will start at 7:00 p.m. Due to keeping with social distancing guidelines, each student can invite 5 guests. We look forward to a great event!

KENNYWOOD PICNIC
The Chartiers Valley Kennywood picnic day is scheduled for June 11. FunDay tickets are $29.00. Tickets can be used throughout the summer, not only on June 11. Visit kennywood.com/chartiersvalley  to purchase.


FREE MEALS!
Following the extension of the Federal Free Breakfast and Lunch Program, all students are eligible to receive free breakfast and lunch daily. Remote students should complete the Google form to order meals for pick-up.

Free Meals
Chartiers Valley School District is now offering FREE breakfast and FREE lunch to every student, every school day. This includes to-go meals for students learning virtually.  

To-go meals for virtual days (both CV Cyber and Hybrid) must be ordered using this Google Form: To-Go Meals Order Form. Orders must be placed 24 hours in advance and picked up at the following times: 
  • CV Cyber Students can pick up to-go meals on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30 am -12:00 noon at the High School. 
  • Hybrid students with last names beginning in A-K can pick up meals for their remote days at the end of the day each Tuesday before leaving school. 
  • Hybrid students with last names beginning in L-Z can pick up their to-go meals each Thursday before going home. 

At this time, the free meals for all students will only run until December 31, 2020, at which time meal pay statuses will return to Paid, Free, or Reduced rates based on qualifications.  Be sure to submit your free/reduced meal applications as soon as possible to avoid any gap in benefits. Applications can be found on the District website.

Attendance
Remember to take attendance on your online learning days- it takes only a few clicks to do! Here’s a short and helpful video on how a student can take their attendance in Infinite Campus. Or, a parent can take their child’s attendance in Infinite Campus.  Click here for a video on how a parent can take attendance.  

If your child is absent from school (online or in person), please email the MS Attendance Secretary, [email protected].  If your child is a hybrid student and is too sick for school, but able to attend online, please email [email protected] to inform the school that your child will be working from home that day.
