16 November 2020 | Chartiers Valley Middle School
Hello Colt Families,

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, we'd like to take this opportunity to share with you some of the ways that we express our gratitude here at the middle school.

Mrs. Speicher leads the "Give Thx" program which is a digital tool that strengthens student wellbeing & social-emotional skills using gratitude science. Both students and staff utilize this program by sending notes of encouragement, appreciation and support to members of our school community. Give Thx builds a connection for the entire school community and has proven to be powerful way for students to have a safe and supportive avenue to share their emotions. The 7Lime House piloted the program last year and we are lucky to now have this incorporated building wide to teach the practice of daily gratitude. Our Give Thx Ambassadors from last year's house work to promote the program with integrity, respect and responsibility.

In celebration of World Kindness Day, CVMS PTSG, Student Council and No Place For Hate are promoting a Kindness Challenge. Beginning November 16, and continuing through December 3, students will be encouraged to complete Random Acts of Kindness. When students complete an activity, they should complete the form detailing their kindness act. Random Acts of Kindness will be displayed throughout the entire school as a visual reminder that CVMS students know that “Kindness is King.”

The Student Council is sponsoring a Sarris Candy fundraiser with the proceeds benefiting building-wide activities and events. We are encouraging as many students as possible to participate in the fundraiser.   Orders are due back to the middle school by November 25, 2020. Order forms can be sent into homeroom teachers to placed online at Sarris Candy Fundraiser using code 10-0885.

Make it a great day,

Dr. Michele Welter, Principal
Mr. Dan Knause, Assistant Principal
