Master of Science in Dietetics

Mission and Statement:
Why is our program Special?

We are special because the program is accredited through the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND). Upon completion of the program, students will earn a verification statement to sit for the national registration examination for dietitians and can become licensed.

Research Opportunities:


The students in the MS in Dietetics program do have opportunities to conduct research as part of the course work. We encourage our students to submit poster presentations in various outlets at the local, regional, and national levels.

Interprofessional Education (IPE) Opportunities:


Students in the MS in Dietetics program complete >1000 hours of supervised experiential learning. Within these hours students work interprofessional with many healthcare disciplines. In addition, our students can apply and participate in the AHEC scholars’ program which integrates the medical, physician assistance, and nursing students.

Study Tips to help you succeed
  • Organization! Put all assignments in a planner to keep organized throughout the semester.


  • Weekly learning objectives. Review weekly learning objectives for each course. These objectives will help to guide you on the most important information to study.



  • End of chapter exercises. Always look at end of chapter exercises to increase knowledge and get a better understanding of the information.  
Scholarship Opportunities
  •  Students can apply for a variety of scholarships through the graduate college. In addition, because this program is accredited.
  • Students can apply for foundation scholarships with the Texas Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the national Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. 
Employment Opportunities

Our first class was admitted in Fall of 2021 and will graduate spring of 2023. Registered Dietitian Nutritionist can work in hospitals, retail, public health, doctors’ offices, school districts and/or open a private practice. Average salary is 65,500 in Texas.

Who to Contact?

Who do students contact if difficulties are experienced in major courses?


 In this program students are assigned a faculty mentor/advisor. Students meet with their advisor at least two times a semester and can reach out anytime if experiencing difficulties.
