Dear Principals and Administrators,
We have been asked to clarify last week's email regarding the remaining 4% of the MSA reimbursement for the 20-21 school year as well as what we anticipate for the reimbursement for the 22-23 school year.
2021-22
- As a reminder, schools have so far received reimbursement for 96% of their claims.
- SED anticipates the remaining 4% to distributed with the enactment of New York State’s 2023-2024 budget, scheduled to be by April 1.
2022-23:
-
The MSA submission for the 22-23 school year is now open. See here for more information.
-
Claims must be submitted by April 1, 2024 and amendments will be accepted until May 31, 2024. Submitted claims will be paid by May 31, 2024.
-
While the amount allocated in last year's budget is insufficient to cover the anticipated claims, as we previously reported, the Governor allocated $239 million for MSA in the FY25 executive budget, which should be sufficient to compensate for the shortfall as well as completely cover the current 23-24 school year.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
The executive budget is just a proposal. We need you to join our advocacy days in Albany to meet with legislators and emphasize the critical importance of MSA funds for our schools. Please see below for more information on this year’s Albany Days and click here to register.
