MSA National is partnering with the Be the Match Foundation to host a large-scale
at the Continental Conference/ISNA Convention
being held in Chicago, Illinois, from July 1st to July 3rd, 2011
in honor of Bilal Mallick
We need YOU TO VOLUNTEER!!!
There are currently many cases of Muslim children and scores of others who are awaiting potentially life-saving bone marrow transplants. Ethnicity is a factor in finding a suitable match. Minorities are underrepresented in the registry, which reduces their chances of finding a match and a potential cure for the disease.
Please take a moment to complete our 3-step sign up.
1. Select timings & location using the Bone Marrow Registry Drive Volunteers link
(LOCATIONS: 1-Health Fair in the Rosemont Convention Center (left of the escalators in the lobby) 2-MSA area in the Hyatt basement)
2. Email BoneMarrowRegistryDriveatISNA@gmail.com with your full name, cell phone #, email address, and whether you've volunteered at a bone marrow drive in the past
3. Encourage your friends to volunteer too!!!
Bilal Mallick, a bright and loving 15-year old boy from Illinois who was a member of MYNA, recently left this world by God's will after being diagnosed with leukemia. As part of his treatment, he needed a bone marrow transplant, and was encouraged to know that it would not only benefit himself, but would help all others like himself who urgently need a bone marrow transplant. By God's will, he passed away early in his treatment and was unable to benefit from the bone marrow registry. Let's honor Bilal's graceful struggle with cancer by making sure that other patients find donors -- and praying that someday we might actually find a cure for leukemia.
Anyone 18 and over can sign up to be part of the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) by filling out a few forms and agreeing to a cheek swab. The process is simple and painless.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
MSA National and the Bone Marrow Registry Drive Team
