  February 2014 - Update

AGM Update
The AGM is being held in Rapid City north of Brandon Saturday March 1st. The speakers will be Neil Versavel and Jane Thornton. Neil will be speaking on two topics through out the day, one being Nutrition and the other will be on Genetics. Jane will be speaking on forage varieties, grazing response index, and pasture management.
The day is scheduled to start at 10:00 am with registration beginning at 9:30 am. Lunch will be provided. The business portion of the day is scheduled from 1:00 until 2:30 and after that the day will be finished with one of the sessions from Neil. We ask that everyone registers in advance so that there is enough food available. Please register by Feb. 25th at the latest.

Shearing School March 21-22nd
 Advance Shearing Course


There will be a two day advance shearing course open to shearers who have done a basic shearing course or have already learned the basics of shearing and wish to improve their technique.Some equipment will be available to use but bring your own machine if you have one.
Will accept beginners if there is space available.

Nominations For Director at Large


 Pat Smiths Director at Large position is up for renewal. If anyone is interested in running against Pat for this position please have nominations ready for the March 1st AGM. If there are no nominations to run against Pat he will retain his position by acclamation for another term.


Nominee's may be nominated at the meeting, and must agree to be nominated.



Director Position - Vacancy
There is currently one Director position vacant. We would like to see this filled to maintain proper producer representation throughout the province. The region that is currently requiring a Director is the Southwest region.

Requirements of a Director
  • Attend meetings as they are scheduled, usually one conference call a month (1.5-2.5 hrs in length), and a couple face-to-face meetings a year. The face-to-face meetings will usually replace that months conference call.
  • Working on committees as required.
  • Being a member of the Manitoba Sheep Association and being in good standing with the Association.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
